"Connecting..."

First of all,

1. Windows XP
2. Zone Alarm Pro
3. 1 GB DDR2 ram
4. Over 200GB HD space available.
5. Cable connection
6. Motorola SB5100 SURFBoard modem, Belkin F5D7230-4(C) Wireless router
7. Connecting from home
8. Limewire 4.10.9, Limewire 4.12(Explained later) & Java 1.5.0_09
9. Comcast
10. "Your test worked!"
11. There is a laptop that is connecting wirelessly through the Belkin router, and my computer is hardwire connected
12. New problem with Limewire.
13. Tested with brick wall. Tested without brick wall.

Now, I've used Limewire for a few months, and it worked fine. I recently upgraded everything in my computer, and bought a new HD as well. I have my old HD, which I ran Limewire off of fine, still connected, as well as my new HD. I installed the new Limewire, 4.12, on my new HD, and tried the following, and I even tried using version 4.10 on my old HD after deleting my prefrences folder ".limewire," and tried all of the following again.

When I try to download any songs, it just sits at "Connecting..." and sometimes gets to "Downloading from 1 host" or "Need more sources." I setup Zone Alarm to allow TCP incoming/outgoing and UDP incoming/outgoing for Internet Zone and Trusted Zone for the port that I assigned Limewire to use. I went through my Belkin router settings using some guide on here, and setup the Virtual server thing on the same port. I have Windows firewall disabled. I still can't download songs. I DID eventually get to download 2 of the 6 I was searching for, all of which had a ton of results, but it took some time, and the other songs still won't download. Any ideas? Also, the connection bars are all green in bottom left, and I've turned off Zone Alarm, ending with the same results. I'm sharing 850 files. I think I've covered everything...

Your LW connection's good & you're not seeing the firewall icon...more likely it's a problem with the files you're choosing to download:wink:

The files that sit connecting for ages then show 'need more sources' are probably fakes.
Search again, vary your search terms, try the All Types search. Stay away from files with lots of sources, go for a file with 10 sources or less, or those with a modem source.

For movies, always check a file before download with Bitzi. A file with heaps of sources but no Bitzi rating is often a fake.

For music, try the tips in this thread
