Lifetime membership not working
 

Hello, Some months back I purchased a lifetime membership to Limewire. I have documented evidence of the purchase, user names and passwords. Recently, somthing changed on the Limewire website and I can no longer access Limewire and download music. Limewire no longer recognizes my username and password. I do not want to purchase an upgrade because I already purchased a lifetime membership. Can someone help me fix the Limewire problem so I can get back to the music download membership that I already paid for. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the settings on my PC as nothing as been changed. Thanks....

Thanks for the reply. I did purchase the membership from www.limewire.com. I have all of the documents i.e. credit card purchase and emails to prove the purchase. How can anyone get in touch with a live person at Limewire for help.

I have been trying to contact Limewire for two weeks now, no return emails,I wanted to re-subscribe and asked a question about something I/d seen in the forum by lotr re-discount for re-subscription,no reply, second, I originally subscribed with an email address,which is still used for forum communication, but Limewire site does NOT now recognise it at all , I had to use a second one for it to work,why is this? In my paranoid mode I might wonder if LW is collecting as much information as possible on clients re court case????Can anyone answer these questions,yours puzzled(As usual),and concerned,

Hello again, I really appreciate your help and I think I'm starting to understand. OK here are the facts: I did purchase something from somebody and was able to download music for a while. Since I'm no longer able to download, what do you I recommend I do? Should I purchase another Limewire membership from thier website i.e. Limewire Pro or what do you recommend ?

The thing we don't get here is why you claim to have bought a Lifetime Membership at www.limewire.com

How much did you pay? Sounds like you have been cleverly scammed

Thanks, I really appreciate your feedback. I'd have to go into my files and get all of the records to see what I paid etc. It may have been over six months ago but I recall there was some verbeig in the agreement that stated lifetime membership which I interpreted as a lifetime of free music. If I again pay for the Pro, how long does this membership last before I have to pay again?

Firstly: This is in no way saying that limewire is not a legit site. In my mind it is. This is more as the right approach to the internet.

NEVER give out too much personal detail on any site, especially regarding P2P

I myself use several different e-mail addresses for various purposes

I have different name, age, occupation etc. for all of them. Which means that anyone who tries to gather info on me will probably be out of luck.

This has to do with many things. SPAM for one. If an address of mine gets comprimised I just stop using it and create a new one with different name, age etc. Because none of them are connected, I don't need to trash all, just the one that has been comprimised.

The internet is not your back yard. Depending on who the recipient of the information is, it may or may noty be used against you in some bad/annoying way.

Always save the installers you get. That way you choose if you want to paid again after the six months are up, or you just keep on using the one you got. In case of a system crash, reformat etc. You still have the choice if you save them.

It might be a good idea to try the free Beta first though and wait a bit before buying Pro. There are many new features and it is not finished yet. Just incase the 6 months are up before all the bugs are sorted.

Again, your giving me great information and sorry for the redundant questions. So what can expecet to get with the Beta version i.e. free music downloads for a while?

OK, here is more on this lifetime membership issue. On 12/28/05, here is what I purchased as quoted on the receipt from Limewire: Membership type: Lifetime Full & Unlimited Access with 25% off for a total of $22.46 $USD, Pro version Upgrade - Movie Codec Pack for a total of $14.95 $USD, and NetspyProtector Option - Protect yourself from Malware for a total of $9.88 $USD. Grand total $47.29 USD. I have membership ID, etc documented in response emails and the credit card statement in hand. The membership was purchased from Limewire and the confirmations came from support@TheMusicMembersArea.com. The email receipt stated: "To begin enjoying your membership, please go to http://www.TheMusicMembersArea.com. OK, so the question to the community is: Did I purchase a lifetime membership to Limewire as per the information above or was I scammed? If I did purchase a lifetime membership, why do I have to pay again?

OK, then there is a big problem here because I purchased from Limewire and then was directed to the music members area from the limewire site to get my music. The credit card charges listed a phone number 866-488-0790 as the company who took the money on behalf of Limewire.

as to your other questions:

I would recommend that you uninstall everything that you got from them. You have no idea of the things some of these scamsites put in their software.

Like the NetSpyProtector. It could be giving them more info on you instead of protecting you. Helping them come up with even more targeted scams.

Codecs to play movies are almost always free (some do have advanced encoding options and such which do cost). Again here you have no idea what they might have put in there.

Try the Beta and see how it works. It works well for most people

It's called browser highjacking. You need to clean all the bad stuff of your computer. Uninstall their software, then run antivirus and spyware scans, clean your browsers cookies and temp files. Run registry cleaner.

I'm not a limewire user at all but I'm happy to say you got ripped off, I'm all against illegal downloading of music which is why I think your ordeal is just...

The first clue should be that you have to go to which is NOT limewire, This is like paying for a lifetime membership at yahoo and wondering why you can't login to microsoft...

Hopefully the czechoslovakian you paid will drain your bank account and maybe you will think next time you buy something, If you want to rip off music and software then why should you be mad when you get ripped off?
