Connection Problems Hi there I wonder if there is any one out there who could possibly help me.I've recently downloaded Limewire 4.12.6 with the latest Java software but having serious trouble with connecting to the Limewire network. I'm currently runinng Window XP Home Service Pack 2 on a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz with 1Gigg ram with about 60 giggs of free HD space.I'm connected to the internet via ADSL and my ISP is Telkom.I've read some of the foroums but still no such luck. Hopefully there is some1 out there that can help sort this problem.:confused: :( :mad: :bangh: |
Please answer as many of these questions as you can (sorry for any repeat questions);) System details - help us to help you From what I've read, Telkom were blocking some p2p ports & throttling p2p in the past but I couldn't tell you whether they're still doing it:o Their Acceptable Use Policy is a bit vague...they may still be throttling. http://www.telkom.co.za/pls/portal/d...ADSL%20AUP.pdf Do you know any other people who are Telkom customers & can use LW without a problem? |
Reply to your questiuons Birdy Firstly thank you for your help it sounds as if my ISP is the problem, well at least my connection type. For your questions OS version? (eg: Windows XP Service Pack 2) 2. What firewalls you have? Windows Firewall 3. How much ram? 1Gigg 4. Hard Disk space available? 80 Gigg 5. Connection type? (ADSL.) 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Premium Combo 7. Where are you trying to connect from? (Home.) 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW: 4.12.6 Java: 1.5.0_09 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?Telkom 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Nothing I'm told that i'm not connected to the internet. 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.?No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. First try with ADSL normally use a dial up connection.(Recently upgraded our line from dial up to ADSL) 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
