Cannot connect at all - help please

Hey guys,

Having trouble connecting to the network completely. I've tried a bunch of different ports, and none of them seem to work, changing port forwarding on my router for each new port I'm trying.

1. OS version? Windows xp pro

2. What firewalls you have? none are on

3. How much ram? 1 gig

4. Hard Disk space available? 80 gig

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) broadband

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? linksys wrt54g router, toshiba DAZ8821F(A) modem

7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? home

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. limewire 4.12.6 Java 1.5.0_03

9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? RCN

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? says "Your test worked!"

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? I've got another PC on the same LAN - both connect directly to the router.

12. Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem. After reformatting my PC, noticed it would no longer connect, but had not used Limewire for a few weeks before the reformat. No firewall is on.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? yup

Any ideas would be great. Thanks.

I think your ISP throttle p2p traffic...call up technical support (your ISP's) to verify this

In point 12 you say you don't have a Firewall On, and in point 13 your answer is (Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? yup), so its a Firewall which is blocking Limewire.

Nadda,

I have the same problem. XP is complaining how my system is not secure because my firewalls are disabled, yet I see the brick wall. I use Limewire just a few days ago and it was working fine so I doubt it's a setting in my router.

Linksys wrt54g have a major firmware problem. Whilst there is a crack fix, it's not recommended for beginners. The best solution is to port forward: Look for your model of linksys here http://portforward.com/routers.htm & then look for LW on the 2nd page link.

Everyone else posting in this thread need to answer the same questions if you want specific help. ;) ;)
