Connection Problem (not firewall) I hope someone can help! I recently bought a new Dell laptop, and Limewire doesn't work on it. (It worked on my Toshiba, and all router and network settings are the same as before). I can search on Limewire, but my downloads say "Connecting" forever. I read on the forums and did all the Firewall stuff I was supposed to. I configured my router to accept from this port. The brick was in front of the globe, but now it's not. I've also configured the settings for Windows XP SP2. I use SBC Yahoo! DSL for my provider, and Limewire worked fine with them before. What's wrong??? Please help!! I can't live without my Limewire!! Thanks |
Sounds like you're trying to download fake files. These will sit connecting for ages & then show 'need more sources' but never download. Search again, vary your search terms, try the All Types search. Stay away from files with lots of sources, go for a file with 10 sources or less, or those with a modem source. For movies, always check a file before download with Bitzi. A file with heaps of sources but no Bitzi rating is often a fake. How to use Bitzi For music, try the tips in this thread How to find music And for some general info about these fakes Info about fake files |
thanks so much that helped! I didn't realize there were so many fake files... |
