Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network.

![]() im also having the same problem. i recently created a new account on my computer. and when i installed limewire on the new account it wouldnt work, i got the loopback connections message. I un in stalled then re installed, but with the same result, so i did a system restore but it still didnt work. I once again created an account re installed it and it STILL doesnt work. Note: i used it on the previous account with no problems. 1. OS version? Windows XP Office 2. What firewalls you have? Windows 3. How much ram? dont know 4. Hard Disk space available? 189 GB i think 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) home network 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? dont know 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.12.11 dont know java because LW will not open at all 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Verizon/AOL 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. Yes, home Network with 2 desktops and 2 laptops 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. new problem with experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? no, but thier is one on the windows firewall icon, even though i set the firewall to off, it still says on, |

![]() hey everyone ![]() ok.........i got limewire (not the pro) and it worked pretty great .......a month after i got it booooooom stop working it wont even open ......you click on the icon on the descktop and this annoying message appears! ![]() its says limewire wont open because of firewall and or a loopback connection .......so I then go make sure limewire is set as an exception (in firewall), and it is....but it still wont work..... so then i think turning of firewall then it would work........ but it wont..........so i erase limewire completely then install it again..... and still wont work ![]() ------so can someone please please please heeeeeeeeeeeelp me? |

Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. 2 other home computers are able to run they are using windows xp. I also have Azeurs on this PC. 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. First time trying to install with Vista on this new PC I have used LW with another pc and Windows XP 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Can not get that far into program , No I cannot get that far, I have tried shutting down windows firewall I get the message that LW is being block by a firewalll or looped back can you help please… Window firewall is close and am running the Pc Tools fire wall.. Have done the Steps 1,2 and 3 as descriped in this form. |

Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(4th one down) Java SE Downloads Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer... ![]() Rommeldog... This may help with your PC Tools firewall.... PCTools Firewall and Vista? [Archive] - PC Tools Community Forum Also once that is configured properly, you also have a Nat Firewall and will more than likely need to open up a Port for Limewire...
