First off, I have LimeWirePro.
It says that it is Starting Connection but stays on teh first bar. I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Please help.

I don't know if I should have gotten Shareaza....

That particular router by linksys is a "lemon". They normally make good stuff, but not any number version with 54 in it. Unless you want to muck around with the firmware, I'd suggest you forward a port; go here & find your model: http://portforward.com/routers.htm

Also make sure your XP firewall is configured to allow LW access: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

My XP Firewall is and has been disabled.
The Port Forwarding stuff looks like it will take a while, so I'm going to do it tomorrow.

Will it reset all my previous setting for stuff like my PSP's connection? I'm starting to wonder if it's worth it....

You should not run without a firewall. Not sure what you mean about PSP. :confused:

I thought I was supposed to turn the XP firewall downn since it woyld be a second one. I have some Norton stuff and then that NAT or whatever firewall from my router.

My PSP(Playstation Portable) connects to the internet to play online. Would my connection settings be changed if I port forwarded?

Sorry for late reply. I don't use a linksys, but with my router, I do need to save settings & then reboot the router which properly saves & puts into action the changes. Re-starting LW also.

For PSP I'm not sure. It probably connects through a particular port or a no. of ports. If it doesn't work well, then go thru the manual & find which ports it uses & port forward those. You never did say which linksys model you have. Most work well in UPnP mode which means you don't need to port forward so long as UPnP is "enabled"! However, any of their models that have 54 in the version no. are unreliable due to firmware problems. (There is a firmware crak fix for it. But only recommended for the brave ones. People who have done it properly haven't looked back.)

You said you have Norton Stuff. What norton stuff? Firewall/NIS? or just anti-virus & repair utilities? If you're running norton firewall, then you should disable XP's firewall & configure norton's firewall; Configuring Norton Internet Security

I think I am just using Norton Protection Center w/ Symantec. I have a pull down/up thing in my bar at the bottom if that helps you any.

I am going to restart/boot my router in 15 minutes...

I restarted my router and computer and nothing happened differently. I am pretty sure I don't have any Norton Firewalls. It stays on Starting Connection for forever.

Could it be that I got limewire PRO from fileplanet?

Gads how much did you pay for it? You don't know what you might have ended up with.

Have you tried connecting without the router?

I payed nothing. I got Shareaza and its working no hassle.

Ok so your solution was to move to another gnutella program. Good, so long as it works for you. But don't forget to share back to the gnutella network. Shareaza users are reknown as miserly sharers on the gnutella network, ie: they use almost all their upload bandwidth elsewhere. They should only use one network at at time.
