By opened a port do you mean you did manual port forwarding on your linksys? For it to work correctly the 1st step must be to set up a static ip. Linksys port forwarding here http://linksys.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/...wers.search_nl & within LW do Manual port forward instructions & sample image

BTW if you were going to use 2 limewires with one on each computer, you'd need to do a separate port forward for each but using different ports.

Did you make sure UPnP was enabled on the linksys before this?

Is your XP firewall disabled? Did you configure McAffee to allow LW?

dear friend,
I'm telling u that yesterday every thing was ok with the same exact settings for the firewall, router, isp,LW but today is a different story.
I'm not using 2 LW together & not using 2 firewalls together.
My linksys support upnp & it is enabled

The brick wall represents a firewall. This must be due to something. Possibly your isp. Try going to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & changing Listening port to 64049. Apply. Restart LW.

If still no good, then try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) But make a note of all important settings such as days to keep incomplete files because when you restart LW, you'll need to reset your options.

dear Lord Of The rings,
First , thank you for your time & concern.
second, I tried that also but nothing improved.
third, I know that the brick wall refers to a firewall that interfere with the connection , but I know it's not mcfee nor linksys & I think It's not my isp because I'v been using LW for 3 days without any problem...so I don't know what else can I do.
do you have any ideas???

Try Phex to see if you have the same problems. It connects to many other types of ultrapeers other than LimeWire & is good for finding rarer files. But it doesn't have many language options unfortunately.

With LW, you could set it not to connect at start up. Then open it, let it load & settle for 10 mins or so, then go to File>Connect. Give it lots of time to try to connect. Otherwise you could try the beta but it probably wouldn't make any difference with connecting; http://www.limewire.com/english/content/beta.shtml

BTW I haven't seen too many users with a linksys wag model. Perhaps the UPnP is not functioning reliably. That happens on one of their other range of routers. (though for most models Linksys is very good!) So perhaps port forwarding is something worthy to try.

Lord Of the Rings...
 WOW
now this is weerd ; I did every thing all over again & tried LW beta and it worked!!!! :super:
It continued my downloads, but no search result no connection signal & even no ultrapeer protocol Just the downloads, & the brick wall is still there>>>
 do you have any theory or suggestions
