I know little if anything about proxies. But I can point you to proxy methods. A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire particularly page 2 which has links to alternative instructions.

AFAIK you need to try different proxies until you find one that both connects & offers some reasonable speed.

use a socks4 or sockss5 proxy....if you search this forum for 'proxy' you will find a fairly recent post that I responded to that details how to set up for a proxy...

you will most likely have to try various proxies until you find one that works

Use the search function. The advanced one & put peerless as author.

As previously mentioned, I don't know about proxies. Some tips http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hlight=prox%2A

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hlight=prox%2A

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...hlight=prox%2A

Here's some proxy types that have worked:
(a) Another Insight proxy solution

(b) http proxies, _________ (c) A Successful http Proxy Solution _________ (d) HTTP proxy blocks P2P - This one worked!!!

SecureX http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...t=55461&page=5

BTW who is your ISP? I suppose you're convinced they are blocking p2p programs right? Have you tried another gnutella program such as Phex to see if you have the same problems.

choclateguy85 December 5th, 2006 10:31 AM

I work in a LAN environment and i think actually i am convnced that my network admin has blocked P2P softwares but software like morpheus which uses gntella network works fine on me

Lord of the Rings December 5th, 2006 10:37 AM

Why not use LW at home then. It's not uncommon for businesses to stop the use of p2p programs or specific p2p programs. No easy answer in those cases other than perhaps speaking to the tech admin. if you're brave. :D

Which proxy set worked for you?

futureboy20 December 5th, 2008 02:33 PM

yeah which proxy service you used.?

Peerless December 5th, 2008 05:29 PM

look people, you certainly don't have to use a service...there are settings for proxies in LW, all you have to do is enter the IP address of the socks5 proxy and enter the port# 1080...

a simple google of the relevant term will lead you to various free sites which will list proxies...as I've said time and again you will most likely have to try various proxies until you find one that works good, or works at all...
