Wireless Connection - HELP!!!

Does Limewire have a problem with wireless internet connection? I was on broadband before and it worked fine, then when i moved and started using a wireless internet connection, it just is not connecting anymore. I REALLY NEED HELP!!! What's going on with it??

Did the move include a change of ISP or hardware (eg modem/router)?

Read the sticky below, there's a lot of helpful info:wink: Start off by making sure that you're only using 1 software firewall & that it's configured properly.
Connection problems? Check here first!

If you're stuck, tell us your details. Post #2 of the sticky shows the info we need.

Hey birdy,

Here are the answers to those questions. Some i don't know. Also, i moved to a school. Could they still control it even though it's a wireless connection?

1. Windows XP
2. The typical one that came with the computer, i haven't bought a new one though, so it may be expired
3. Not sure where to check for RAM
4. Not sure where to check for it
5. Wireless
6. Don't know what those are
7. Apartment in school
8. LW: 4.10.9 Java: 1.5.0_03
9. My ISP i guess is Dell? the school?
10. It says "Your test worked"
11. No
12. This is a new problem from when i moved and changed from broadband to wireless
13. Yes, a brick is there.

Also...a change of ISP or hardware?? I don't...I'm not sure. I know i was broadband and when i moved i had to become wireless...I hope some of my answers help. Sorry i'm so bad at not knowing most of them. Let me know what else you need from me.

It's likely that your school's the problem...lots either don't allow p2p use or shape bandwidth for p2p.
Bandwidth Shaper Sample - typical of how some schools use it (click on link)

Do any other people at school use LW & see good speeds? Actually, you're lucky that the school's not blocking it completely.
Double check that your XP firewall is allowing gnutella, although the school's probably got it's own firewall too.
You could talk to the school's admin & find out what their policy on p2p is

The wireless connection is likely not as strong as your direct connection was. If it is a public run network like a school then you are fairly safe in assuming that they have firewall, and other things to limit bandwidth use. Really well not be much that you can do because you do not have any control over the network.
