Default limewire takeover?

ok heres the thing just started to use the forum and it feels like the more i read the more problems i think i have heres the thing: limewire used to work great and lately been having issues with download speeds, their not nearly as fast as b4 about 50% slower. when i run limewire i cannot surf the web or pretty much do anything but let it download its using 100% cpu and all along i thought that was normal so i would only run at night while im sleeping to download.my question is what can i do about this ive read a few thread and seem to be seeing things ive already tried here goes-
windows xp home
norton internet security 2006
256 ram 30 %free
dsl-verizon
westell 6100
test works
connecting from home
lw 4.12.6
java 1.5_09

Default

256 is almost nothing for ram i do not know the rest of the specs of the computer but getting at least 512 mb ram will definitely help speed things up and you probably also have other programs running in the background use task manager and look at the processes to see what is actually running.
