Default Connection Issues

Okay, I got the little questionaire thing from up top and I'm filling it out below. Just so you know, I'm on a home network directly plugged into the router, and my buddy can get on limewire with his computer. However, whenever I try to get on, it won't connect. I've turned everything off BUT Limewire (and the important windows stuff) and it still won't connect. I've had my computer on this modem in the past and it worked. I had to fight with it then, too, though, and I can't for the life of me remember what I did. I've uninstalled my previous limewire and have re-installed it, I've turned everything off, and I can't get it to connect at all. I've done every troubleshooting thing I can find and it just won't work! So any advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

1. OS version? Windows XP
2. What firewalls you have? XP firewall
3. How much ram? 512 mb
4. Hard Disk space available? plenty
5. Connection type? broadband (cable)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Linksys BEFW11S4
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)? Home
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) 4.12.6 and Java ? (no clue)
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Adelphia
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Timed Out
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. I'm connected to a router, but I'm not in a huge network. Just a standard home network.
12. Is this a your 1st try at FW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. I had a similar problem before but I somehow made it work. I can't figure out how to fix it this time.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of FW's interface? Yes, but I turned the Windows firewall off and it was still there. I exited out of my anti-virus and it was still there. It won't go away!

Default

1. Make sure your Linksys is set for UPnP. To enable it see intructions here Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) under the UPnP section.

2. You should have your firewall turned on. But configure it so it allows LW full access: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link)

3. Under the help menu of LW, it will show both the LW & Java version. Make sure your Java version is at least 1.5. If not, then update it.

4. If all the above don't work, then check the 1st link & look at the 3rd section of that page about port forwarding. Forward a port, but don't use the same port any other application or other user of LW is using. The default is port 6346. If someone else is using that, then forward a port like 64049 & put that port into the LW advanced firewall settings also. The main step of port forwarding is the 1st one which is setting up a static ip. And don't forget to save all settings & restart LW. Some routers you need to reboot before changes come into effect. I'm not sure about Linksys.
