Multiple Accounts

My family computer has several accounts set up, one for each person. My little brother's will run limewire while mine will not. Is there anything to be done about this?

If your running them at the same time you'll have to use different ports. You'll also have to configure your firewall and probably your router for each port. See this thread: Connection problems? Check here first!

For more assistance you'll need to post your details: System details - help us to help you

No, that's not it at all. How can we run them at the same time on the same computer? When he runs it on his account it works, when I run it on my account it doesn't work.

Also, awhile ago it was working fine. And now suddenly it isn't. I've had this problem before where it spontaneously stopped working. I didn't do anything and it started working again. Now it's stopped working yet again. Is it so hard to turn out an effective product?

Try deleting your LW Preferences folder whilst LW is closed; instructions here: Point #2 & 3 in Fixes for Limewire (sample image included at bottom of page.) For each account that doesn't work properly.

BTW are you using shortcuts or did you install separately for each account or how did you set it up?

I actually installed it and then copied a shortcut to his account.

Yes that's the best way to do it. Odd then that "you" should be the one with the problems. Try deleting your prefs then. That will only affect your account's LW.

This may be a moot point, but you can run LW on 2 different accounts at the same time. In windows xp you can switch users without logging off. So LW can be running on 2 accounts, but will have to use different listen on ports. Unless you've made exceptions for both ports, one will be firewalled and one won't.
