You left out the most important answer... 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? You should be able to find the info underneath it or them... |
kind of modemn I am on a wireless LAN. I have an airbridge |
I need the make and the model number... |
help finding what kind of router I am connect to a wireless LAN. The only connect I see is a CNet PRO200WL Fast Ethernet Adapter. Where can i look to see what I have |
Turn the modem upside down, the info should be there.... |
model # E110 |
I cant find anything at all on an airbridge E110, not even when I google it...Are you sure that's the name of your modem/router ??? |
LAN I am on a wireless LAN. I have an antenna with a cable running from it to a Long Range Multi-Client Bridge then a cable runs to a E110 power over ethernet hub then to my computer. |
That's all to complicated for me...My suggestion would be to go to the Port Forwarding forums and ask for their assistance... Their link....http://forum.portforward.com/ |
Dial up lets me connect If I use my regular dial up service LW will connect and search. Has 5 bar signal. When I switch back to my LAN it won't work. I am very confused now. |
Since the test doesn't work, your Limewire might very well be blocked by your network. That explanation about how you connect confuses me a bit as well (satellite connection)?? Try changing the listening port to a high number: Go to Tools-->Options-->Advanced-->Firewall Config Change it to something in the 50000-65000 range Maybe try to change to portforwarding mode and use the same number, since by your explanation youy don't have a router anyway. Add that same number to exceptions in your Firewall as well |
All wireless connection devices have internal NAT firewalls which block ports. So wherever this device is ... is most likely the culprit. Whether that is your receiver or the sender is the question. I presume this is a radio service right? You receive the signal directly from your isp? If directly from your isp then the earlier suggestion the isp is to blame might be the issue. So ask them to open the port LW uses. But try Sleepless's suggestion anyway. |
ISP 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? when i do this page now it say 'Your test worked' If they were blocking it on the wireless why wouldn't they be blocking it on the dial up service to. I can connect to the same isp using dial and LM works, but when it try wireless it doesn't work. |
1. due to the devices used. 2. the bandwidth used on the wireless is much greater & if they have a policy against p2p due to the great bandwidth it uses, then they may be deliberately blocking ports on their wireless service. You can't reach that port test page which means the port LW normally uses by default "is" blocked. ;) Give them a call & ask them to unblock that port. Did you try Sleepless's suggestion? |
Port test works I can get the port test page to come up now it says ' Your test worked' I tried the other suggestion still no luck |
You should try calling Tech Support for your ISP. Ask them if there is something on the line that blocks programs that need Direct Connection, and if the answer is yes, then ask how to bypass it. But they might very well be blocking it on purpose, so good luck. |
So, is clear, the Isp is the one blocking P2P stuff, just try HttpTunnel, i heard it disguises the P2P traffic as Http traffic, leaving P2P shaping unusefull... |
