connecting to a specific Host

I can't seem to connect to a specific IP address. I think I am doing it correctly, but with all the connection problems going on I am not sure if it is me or the system.

i type the IP address in remove/add box on the connections tab and hit add. the address appears in the "connected hosts" window for a second and then gets replaced by a different host address. I was able to keep the connection up only once so far, and that was only after hitting the add button about 1,000x!

can anyone offer any assistance?

thanks

just an update...

i turned off the auto-connect at startup and manually connected to the specific host i wanted. well after only 10 clicks of the add button (instead of 1,000) i was connected.

maybe this is the right (best) way to accomplish this.

any insight would be much appreciated!
