Cannot connect!!!! Hi guys, am having the same problem as the rest of the world. when i try connect recently, only 1 connection bar turns green and it stays that way forever! basically as good as cannot connect! Here's my info: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) Windows XP Home SP2 2. What firewalls you have? Windows firewall (turn on but allowed LW), AOL Active Virus Shield & Spyware Doctor 3. How much ram? 504 4. Hard Disk space available? 40G 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? D-Link, DSL 500T (ADSL Router) 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? Home 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.12.6 and Java 1.5.0_10 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Malaysia's Streamyx 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Done it, it says "Your test worked". 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem with an experienced user. 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yes PLease Please help!!!!! |
My thoughts are your D-Link at fault. You need to do either of 2 things, enable UPnP or else, forward a port. I have a D-Link & after port forwarding have never looked back. I believe D-Links do better with PF than UPnP but some people use UPnP happily ... may depend upon model. See the 2nd section in the following link about UPnP & look for Di-Link to see how to enable UPnP. Connection problems? Check here first! (click on link) Also, make sure your XP firewall is properly configured to allow LW: Firewall configuration instructions (click on link) BTW as a side-note, make sure LimeWire is on the exception list of AOL's security. It's known to mistakenly think LW is spyware & attempt to remove it. ;) |
