The same thing's been happening to me...I'm not sure how I fixed it, though...so I can try to talk you through some of the things I've done. What have you tried so far?

One of the things I did was delete my limewire preference folder. Here's a link with directions:

Another thing I did: I changed my speed in Limewire from Cable/DSL to T1 to T3...this is not generally recommended. But, in the screen with the bandwidth allocation for downloads, Cable/DSL maxes out at about 43 kB/s at the 100% marker. I know from experience that I can download faster than this...the T1 setting goes up to about 120 kB/s. Right now I'm downloading at around 300 kB/s...so I thought T3 was more appropriate.
