Fed Up With Limewire

Hello,
I have had Limewire for over a year, but in the last few months it has done nothing but tick me off. I can never get rid of the brick wall in front of the globe, hence cannot search/download.

My info:

1.Win XP
2.windows firewall
3.dunno how much ram I have, dunno how to find out
4.Cdisk=192GB Ddisk=3.99GB
5.cable
6.DPX110 cable modem
7.home
8.LW=4.12.6, Java=1.5.0_10
9.AOL
10.test worked
11.no
12.new problem, experienced user
13.yes

If you cannot help me get Limewire working could you please recommend a download software that does work? I have about had it with tinkering with this thing. I have tried every suggestion I have seen you offer others from port forwarding to configuring my router which I was unable to do beacuse I could not get into its controls. Any help or new software suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.

If you need to find your number to log into your modem/router have a look at the default gateway number and enter that into your browser...

This does not work. when I enter the DG number all the browser does is go to a search results page which is nothing but crap. When I tried this on internet explorer it brought up a 'dialing AOL' box, even though I was still online with AOl, and then still wouldn't connect. Is there anything else I can do to get to my router or do I need to go shopping for new music software?

Hmmm, my default gateway number matched the number to log into the modem/router....
I googled your modem and I couldn't find alot of info about it and p2p, what I did find was people using that modem also where using a seperate router as well...
Maybe you could try Frostwire and see if you get a better run with that...

LimeWire is P2P software not music software. Where did you get it from the music store. Make sure your firewall is not blocking LimeWire. Some of AOL's bundled software has been known to give LimeWire trouble. Do a search of the forum using AOL as the key word.

Thanks, wonderingwhy, for the frostwire suggestion. I am thinking about trying something different. Limewire's just driving me crazy. I got my modem(or maybe it's the router) from my cable company. They're the ones that keep it going.
Grandpa, I gt limewire from the internet not a music store and I have already configured the only software firewall I have which is windows. I don't have one from AOL. I have the their safety and security center, but the firewall with that was never installed as I had norton at the time that I got it. I don't have norton anymore. It drove me more crazy than limewire.
