Changed ISP and kaput
 

I have just had to change isp from bt to tiscali.

Limewire has been working for ages on my pc and now doesn't want to connect to the internet.

It also denotes a firewall.

I've checked the FAQ etc but nothing seems to work.

Any ideas (besides going back to BT)?

A few people with Tiscali seem to be unable to connect recently. Tiscali are known for traffic shaping but maybe they've also started blocking ports? That's just a guess. You could try changing to a different port (eg 64049). In LW tools > options > advanced > firewall config. Here you can change LW's listening port number.
Listening port, specific ports allowed through a software firewall & any ports forwarded through a router must all be the same number;)

If this is a Tiscali problem, there might not be much we can do to help. Use the forum search to look for Tiscali...you'll find other threads with info.

Tiscali have been known for blocking ports in some places. They are a large European company & use different techniques in different regions. But fact is, they are anti-p2p.
