Calling Streamyx users

Hi all,

I can't connect to Limewire anymore, used to benefit from it a lot. This happens about a week ago when I finally installed Streamyx at home. Now I can't even connect via hotspots which I used to hang out.

I've read posts from LOTR and Birdy, tried every single bit of instructions available but to no avail. Frustrated as I need to download some files quick.

Anyone on Streamyx having the same problem.

ridzo63 January 19th, 2007 04:57 AM

did you try connecting limewire at hotspots???starbucks for instance, i was not able to....dunno why?

zulazmin2 January 19th, 2007 05:13 AM

if the outlet using TMNEt hotspot i dont think it will work either... btw...does everything work fine b4?..when does you start having probs?

NeonKnight January 19th, 2007 05:18 AM

Hi! I think this problem probably related to the network adapter. You can try checking thru your control panel, performance & maintenance, system(system properties), hardware, Device Manager, Network adapter and enable all devices. Selamat mencuba (good luck).

zulazmin2 January 19th, 2007 05:31 AM

yup checked that ...everything are enable...still cant..... anything else??? Heheheh

ridzo63 January 19th, 2007 05:38 AM

tolong...........

yup, did it too....still not working.

zul, i only realised this when i started installing streamyx just after the quale in Taiwan. Don't really know how this can affect the connection, it's the firewall issue...i think!!!!

zulazmin2 January 19th, 2007 05:44 AM

it cant be the firewall since i can connect using the same notebook via 56k modem....if the firewall is the issue certainly i cant connect to limewire via that modem to right?

wiegreenday January 19th, 2007 08:39 AM

streamyx and LWire Pro

I and a few friends (one using a Mac) also having connection problem which started about the time of the earthquake in Taiwan. I even tried FrostWire with no luck. The funny thing is my LW free version at home on the desktop (via streamyx also) works!! When I use my laptop connected to the wireless router at home, it doesn't work. I've been using LW Pro for about a year with no problems until a few weeks ago.

System details - help us to help you

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again.

So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are:

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) XP Pro SP2
2. What firewalls you have? Win XP and router firewall3. How much ram? 768MB4. Hard Disk space available? 2GB5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) Streamyx broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? DI-5247. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. 4.12.6 and Java 1.5
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Streamyx
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Your test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. No, had earlier versions.....had this upgrade a month ago and was fine
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes

birdy January 22nd, 2007 07:50 PM

It's probably got something to do with the Taiwan earthquake;)

Heaps of Streamyx users are having the same problems!!

http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...ghlight=taiwan
http://www.webspaceworks.com/articles/news/70/
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_He...communications

If the firewall icon has always shown in LW, chances are that it's an earthquake related problem with LW. Have you called TMNet to ask them what's up?

If you've only just started seeing the firewall icon, get back to us. But honestly, if this is due to cable damage then there's not much point fixing up the firewall problem if you won't be able to connect anyway...better to wait until the connection is fixed & then address that problem:)

ridzo63 January 22nd, 2007 10:32 PM

Hi Birdy,

As expected, the ISP will provide you with info that everything's alright. Anyone with any idea when all this problems are mended? It's also a good idea to have the www servers and cables, or whatever in non-quake prone areas......like msia lol....

Hi guys, I'm in Malaysia and had been using LW via streamyx for about 2 years now, never had a problem. around the time of the taiwan earthquake i cant connect to LW anymore. Only 1 small green bar and thats it. have tried everything and read every threads posted here and came to 2 possible reason:

1. Broken cables caused by earthquake.
2. Streamyx is scaling down the bandwidth for P2P users.

ericyeohpj January 25th, 2007 06:19 AM

It seems a large majority of LW users in Malaysia are having connection problems. Does this problem still persist? I'm still can't connect from my LW. Anybody else still facing this problem in Malaysia? Is it only applicable to streamyx users??

ericyeohpj January 25th, 2007 06:26 AM

Connection problem

Hey Guys,

Im another long time LW user in Malaysia, who at around the time of the taiwan earthquake have been unable to connect to Limewire.

i also get the message...LW is currently connecting to the network........
Previously i had no problems downloading, i havent changed any settings

i also have the brick wall and 1 signal bar.[Using Streamyx and router]

Its very frustrating....but i guess we are no closer to a solution :bangh:

Whalesith January 25th, 2007 07:48 AM

yeah unfortunately there are lots of longtime LW users in Malaysia (like myself) who suddenly unable to connect to LW around the time of the taiwan earthquake. initially i thot is my comp (which is weird cos i haven't change any settings at all) but after reading all the threads in this forum, i think i'm definitely not alone. its really either broken cables or streamyx problem.

super super frustrating really..... :bangh:

ukusa January 25th, 2007 10:52 AM

Can't connect either and in USA

For the past week I have NOT been able to connect to MP3 Rocket PRO. I completely turned OFF my firewall, and re-booted but nothing...I get message that I am still behind a FIREWALL and gives me ONE bar of connection and that's it!!! I need info... I have recently upgraded my ISP to DSL Premium with static ISP. Could this be the problem? I am also using wireless router for a laptop, but problem is on desktop PC. Any info would be appreciated.

wondering why January 25th, 2007 11:04 AM

i've added all the ports listed in the guide and in the forums, still i get the firewall or no internet connection detected. anyone can help?

wondering why January 29th, 2007 10:48 AM

Here are the instructions to Port Forward your modem/router....
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...1/Limewire.htm

If you still have problems after port forwarding there's not alot more we can do to help, as Streamyx is a major problem at the moment...(as you can see in this thread)...

Pav Lion January 30th, 2007 12:28 AM

Guys

i'm experiencing the same problems. never had any problem before the Taiwan earthquake. Manage to get thru LW using jaring dial up service. Now, how is that possible, unless of course Jaring uses a totally different gateway route. (Sorry i'm nowhere near a techie)

My best bet is Streamyx does not allow for any P2P activities. Probably got pressured by those 'giants' from the music industry.

so i suggest we either sit back and sulk or we start pressuring Streamyx to buck up.But then again its always the numbers that count.

So you guys out there, stand up and be counted!:PEACE:

Streamyx Problem

Hi there

I too am yet another Streamyx user with the exact same problem (living in Malaysia). I can not access LimeWire or itunes Store anymore as at December last year. After nights of researching on Google I discovered a forum abou the connectivity problem with Streamyx and itunes which happened the same time LimeWire couldn't connect anymore. From what I am reading, it seems that during the re-routing of the Streamyx servers after the earthquake something hasn't been configured properly on their end and it has blocked several P2P's. I can use UTorrent without a problem though.

Obviousely Streamxy have no idea what is happening on their end as I also read that some are able to connect to LimeWire and iTunes through their work Streamxy connection but not their home connection.

This site http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/400109 has suggested setting up a Proxy and connecting iTunes through that. I haven't tried (because I can't work it out) but it seems to work. It may also work with LimeWire if your lucky.

If someone gets this going and is successful please let me know and maybe post the exact steps you went through to set up the Proxy. I am not that computer literate and the explanations on this post are not very specific I'm afraid but the people who are getting it seem to be getting success.

They also mention that they are able to connect to iTunes at Starbucks but not at home. Will try with LimeWire tomorrow.

Good luck.

P.S. Aparently Celcom don't have this problem but don't quote me on that.

IzzyWizzy January 30th, 2007 06:09 AM

ok guys, even better information for you:

http://www.redesignmalaysia.com/cate...echnology/p2p/

This site has indicated that this problem with Streamyx is a deliberate blocking process carried out by Streamyx but is supposed to be lifted at the end of January.

Have a read and cross your fingers its the truth :xirokrotima:

kamalis February 1st, 2007 06:07 PM

EUREKA! LWire Pro finally connected today, just after receiving a lengthy, not so clear explanation e-mail from TMNet. Apparently, they are grappling with the sudden burst of P2P downloading/uploading which is consuming too much bandwidth which is not being uniformly distributed or something like that. If anyone wants to read the exact explanation, please request by posting here. Hope everybody else affected is now connected.

ridzo63 February 1st, 2007 10:37 PM

Limewire is back

Yes, LW is back in Msia after a long rest.

However, the line is slow as crazy.....

ericyeohpj February 2nd, 2007 03:04 AM

Yes, Yes, relief at last for LW users via streamyx. Finally LW is able to connect after more than a month down. I was starting to get worried that we will never get to use LW again.
