Default Please help me =P (LW unable to initialize & start)

Hi,

I just downloaded Limewire yesterday but after i installed it, and opened limewire it gave me this message.

LimeWire was unable to initialize and start. This is usually due to a
firewall program blocking LimeWire's access to the internet or
loopback connections on the local machine. Please allow LimeWire
access to the internet and restart LimeWire.

I deactivated my Norton antivirus, but it gave me the same message. Here are the details that you might need to help me from Birdy's post.

1.OS version - Windows XP Home edition
2. Only Norton antivirus.
3. 256mb RAM
4. 68 GB left
5. cable
6.I'm not so sure of the model numbers but the Modem and router are both from Mottoralla.
7.House
8.Cannot open, so don't know =P
9.Rogers
10.When i click on the link it says "The test worked!"
11.No
12.First try, from a new user
13.? don't even understand the question.

If you can help me it will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
SilentMuder

If you're using NAV there's no firewall with that. Are you sure it's NAV & not Norton Internet Security? If it's NIS, it will have a firewall.
What about the XP firewall...is it turned off? Don't run without a firewall, it's better to just use 1 software firewall & configure that for LW.

Check the attachment below...if there's a brick wall in front of the picture of the blue globe on your LW, you're seeing the firewall icon!

Have a look here, there's a lot of info about connection problems.
Connection problems? Check here first!

Look all over your modem & router...the model numbers will be there somewhere. Look underneath too

Edit...you might find that you have issues with Rogers. They're known for shaping bandwidth (ie slow downloads)

Oh ok, so you can't even open it to see the LW page? Sorry if I misread your first post

Don't turn off the Win firewall then...configure it. See if this link helps.

You can use the default port of 6346 for configuring the XP firewall...see if that works. You should be able to configure that firewall independent of LW. You don't have any firewall from Rogers? What's your Java version...go to control panel > add/remove programs & you should see what Java you have on the list.

Update your Java. Use the JRE offline installer here
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp

Remove your current version of Java before you install the new one.
