9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Century Tel
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Does not work

Try changing ports. In LW tools > optons > advanced > firewall config. Change LW's listening port to 64049 > apply > ok.

Make sure that the XP firewall is disabled...it will conflict with Norton's firewall. Don't run without a firewall on, just make sure you're only using 1 & configure it for LW.

What's the model of your Westell? It should be written on the router somewhere (look underneath too).

Something's blocking LW's default port, possibly your ISP. See if changing ports makes any difference. Have you tried to use any other p2p apps?

i am about to try that

Model #: 890-210014-04

How would I turn off my windows firewall? I dont see one anywhere..

thanks

Start > control panel > windows firewall. You can turn it on & off there.

justin76 January 25th, 2007 03:26 PM

There is not a windows firewall thumbnail. I checked internet options and network connections.. would it be under something else...

I changed the listening port... still not connected

In control panel, check in Security Centre. I don't use Norton so I'm not sure if it's suppoed to automatically disable the XP firewall. If you can't find any XP firewall info, make sure that your Norton's allowing LW.

If your router supports UPnP, enable it within the router & then choose the UPnP option on that same LW firewall page where you changed listening port.

Are you sure there's not another model number on the router? That one you gave me looks more like a serial number & there's no Google info at all.

justin76 January 25th, 2007 06:04 PM

I think that is the model# because the serial# is on there in a different spot.
There is no Security centre either. Norton is permitting all for LW.
My modem is a dual modem/router and the UPnP option is selected.

It's a B...not an 8, at the start of your model number:rofl:

Try port forwarding & use these instructions
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...d/Limewire.htm

Somebody else with that model used those instructions to port forward & it worked fine. Just remember to set up a static IP address first (very important), you'll find instructions in that link.
The port number forwarded, LW's listening port & any specific port numbers allowed thru a software firewall must all be the same number!!

That should get rid of the firewall icon. If you still can't connect after that, it could be an ISP issue (but I can't find any evidence that CenturyTel block p2p).
