Angry Nothing Works!!!

I've been connected to Limewire for 6 months and then 3 weeks ago, for no apparent reason, the connection went down to 1 bar and hasn;t been off it since. I've followed all the instructions in the FAQs - changed firewall settings etc. I;ve unstalled and re-installed the software a few times. NOTHING WORKS! really frustrating. Is anyone else having the same problem? Please help!

a little similar...
I hope you got it from the official site...
Have you done any changes? Upgraded to a different firewall, or gotten a new ISP, router?

LW shouldn't just... stop working...
what version do you have? 'I didn't get a FAQ file...'
sounds suspicious....

yeah, I know - it's really odd. Nope, no new ISP, firewalls...anything. Got all the info I could from the website troubleshooting pages and this forum. just been trying to connect it again - turning all firewalls off etc - but still no joy. very strange

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? n/a

7. Where are you trying to connect? from work

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? LW - 4.12.10 Java 1.5_0.10

9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? unknown

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?

It comes up with 'Your test worked'

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.

I'm at work on a LAN

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user?

new problem with experienced user

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?

Yes (even with the windows firewall turned off)
The firewall is likely to be due to the LAN parent or its connection devices. So question of whether anything can be done there. Or else, try changing listening port to one between 49152 - 65535, or even trying some of these 80, 443, 427, 3500. To change this, go to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewalls & you'll see a listening port option. You'd need to quit & restart LW after changing port. Often the problem with connecting from work is lack of control over the master machine which has its own firewall. Not to mention whatever connection devices they may use.
