![]() ok.. when i open limewire it only has the first tiny little bar. now, i know sometimes it can take some time to connect, but it will only connect if i leave it up for (literallly) about 40-50 minutes. heres the details of my system and stuff 1. OS version? Windows XP Professional 2. What firewalls you have? Windows firewall (disabled) 3. How much ram? not quite sure but i know its a decent amount 4. Hard Disk space available? 30 gb 5. Connection type? cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? modem: motorola surfboard sb5100 and Linksys WRTP54G 7. Where are you trying to connect from? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. LW 4.12.6 Java 1.50_11 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? Adelphia Cable 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Works fine, white background and bold font 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New problem with experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Yeah One more thing that probably has to do with it. From time to time while im on limewire it pops up with a message that says something like "it doesnt have the necessary files" or something. ive tried reinstalling limewire and uninstalling and installing again and it still gives me that message. someone help? |

![]() Hi Ken Jamin. If you dont Delete the prefs folder before reinstalling L/W it won fix anything. It sounds like possably a corrupt java download, &/or L/W Prefs folder prob First! close L/W completly, then Go, START/My Computer/local disc C:/ Documents & settings/Your User Name/Application Data Now Delete the LimeWire Folder. If you cant find Application Data Folder,GO to Tools/folder Opions,& tick, show hidden folders, You can put the setting back afterwoods to protect your computer. note: You will have to reset your, Tools/options in L/W Later. Now! Go to, START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs, now completely remove all versions of java. Now! Use this Link to get JRE 6 Use the off line installer NOT the (recormended) one, http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java. Follow thease instructions exactly. Dont forget to reset your options in L/W, Licence warning n stuff. Also you may need to portfarward your router n create a static IP Link here http://portforward.com/routers.htm Your feedback will help others Any Problems Shout. Peace.
