Default Can not Proceed to Search in Limewire

After connecting to Limewire, the "Upgrade to PRO" box appears as it always does. Usually I would x (close) the box and began to search. Now, I can not x or close the box no matter what I do. The box is preventing me to proceed to search. I am not sure of what details you require for this post, so I will provide as much information as possible. P.S. I am not computer friendly, especially the techical stuff. So please provide detailed answers.

1. Opperation System - Windows XP
2. Firewalls I have - Windows. I also have Mcafee anti-virus software installed.
3. Not sure of how much Ram or harddisk space available, but I have connected before.
4. Connection type - Cable.
5. Modem Information - Modem Surfboard # SB5100 - Cable Modem.
6. Connected - At home.
7. Version & Java - Limeware version 4.9.7, Java 1.50-11 and Java 6
8. ISP provider - Comcast.
9. Test performed and got the message "Your test worked".
10. Not sharing connections with any other computers or p2p share programs.
11. Yes, I see the firewall in front of the blue ball, but I have connected through windows before.

I have always been able to use Limewire since it was installed. This is the first time I have encountered problems. Is there anyway to stop the "Upgrade to PRO box" from appearing each time you log into Limewire? Any help would be appreciated.

AFAIK there's no way to get rid of the upgrade popup.

Try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed...see if that allows you to at least close the box again
See point 3 below for instructions. If you've used much older versions of LW, there could be a folder in point 2's location as well.
Fixes for LimeWire

*Deleting that folder will kill all of your settings within options. You'll have to go back through & reset things afterwards.

If that doesn't help, try installing the latest LW 4.12.11.

If you love your 4.9 version, make sure the installer is saved...installing a newer version of LW will automatically remove the previous version.
