Mac Connection Problems Hi there, I've been using Limewire for ages, I've just started having problems, sometimes Limewire starts up straight away, other times I get the message 'you are currently connecting to the network', with one green bar, and the wall over the world. I keep going around in circles reloading software, checking firewalls, I've even emailed my provider and they have told me no problems with P2P, here are my settings etc. below. 1. what OS version? Mac OSX 10.4.8 2. What firewalls you have ? None turned on 3. How much ram ? 512mb 4. Hard Disk space available ? 150GB 5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ? Broadband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ? Thomson SpeedTouch 330 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ? House 8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.? Limewire 4.12.11, Java 1.5.0_07 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ? Toucan 10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ? Your Test Worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. No (iTunes??) 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.? new problem with an experienced user 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ? Yes at the moment 14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ? Hi Mike All your info looks fine, so I can't see anything within your setup that points to a problem. However, when I checked on your ISP at http://www.kitz.co.uk/adsl/caps.htm there is a mention of Toucan (Tiscali) using download limits (caps) last year. Can you check with them and ask if they allow connection to the gnutella network? |
