Yup, you guessed it, connection problems...

Hey there, wondering if you could help.
Basically I downloaded Limewire last week. Worked like a dream for a couple of days, but then the five little bars in the bottom left corner went red :(

My Internet continued to work fine, and I ended up doing a System Restore to fix the problem. Alas, it was only temporary.

Now downloading a video file, 350MB, the connection went from all green to one green after 50MB, but it is still continuing to download :S.

I will close down my computer tonight and re-open it tomorrow and I will have no connection whatsoever. I have already lost the abililty to search on Limewire.

A permanent solution would be appreciated!!

Thanks in advance
Conna

Sorry for the lack of information.

I am on Windows XP. As for firewalls, I'm unsure, I have AVG Free, SiSraid and good ol' Windows Firewall... and I do have a brick wall in front of the globe in the bottom left hand corner. A 1GB of ram, and 55GB of hard drive space remaining, I am currently with Tiscali Broadband and have a D-Link Router (I will add the type later - I am at work at the moment! :() The trouble is currently occuring from my home.

I have the latest version of LW, 4.12 and have Java Update 11.

When I conduct the test... it goes very quickly to a white screen with 'Your test worked!' in Times New Roman font in black.

I am currently sharing my Internet with another computer, download rates are normally around 110-135kb/s.

I use LW often, and this is a new problem for me.

If you need any more information, don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for helping!
Conna.

Tiscali are a pain, so many people are having probs with them lately.

Double check the config of your XP firewall
Firewall setup

Some people have found changing ports helps. To do this, in LW go tools > options > advanced > firewall config. There you can change LW's listening port. Good ones to try are 49152 - 65535. Someone recently got connected after weeks of pain using port 139. If you do change ports, you'd also have to change any specific ports allowed thru a software firewall & any ports forwarded thru a router.

Tiscali & Limewire
can't connect between 5pm-11pm
I have found a solution to getting Limewire to work with Tiscali

Your router has a firewall. Try port forwarding & see if the brick wall disappears. Here are the instructions for your router
http://www.portforward.com/english/r...T/Limewire.htm

Don't forget that LW's listening port, port in the 'manual port forward' box & port forwarded within the router all have to be the same number;)

You could also see whether Java 1.6 makes any difference (it did for one person). Use the JRE offline installer here & remove your old Java versions before installing the new one.
