Wow! I read this ENTIRE thread and still can't get a "turbo" connection like I used to.

I have: Pent IV 540 3.2GHz HT
XP Home SP2
Alltel DSL (3MB speed)
SpeedStream DSL Modem
D-Link DI-524 wireless Router
LimeWire Pro 4.10.0
1 Gig Ram
250 Gig HDD (lots left)
Kaspersky Anti-virus Personal 5.0.388
Windows Firewall
I've deleted the .limewire file in Docs&Settgs user file. I've set all firewall and router settings for correct port usage. Most of the time I'll just get the "connecting" message, when I do get a connection, it's a "fair" one and I can't download from any source no matter how many users are shown! Please Help! Limewire has been the best P2P up to this point. I've used this EXACT setup B4, but since upgrading (and downgrading) I've been unable to connect.

There appears to be a bug right now in LimeWire go to the link below and see if it sounds familiar to you. If so they are working on it right now. One thing you can do is lessen the number of simultaneous downloads you are running to 3 or less that seemed to help with me. If you would like to they could use some impute from you.

Wow, looks like connection problem with this software are widespread with 900 replies to this topic alone.

I have just installed the software and followed all the instructions, including firewall instructions.

When I open limewire and begin a search it says connecting, you will not get many results until connected.

I tnever connects. I tried the fix suggested at the beginning of this thread. I am connected to the internet (hence this post). Why does this software not work?

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Aces

Actually 900 out of 100s of thousands or millions isn't bad at all very low percentage and if you looked the first post was 11/3/2003 that was 794 days ago about 1.3 a day.

Anyway we will need a little more info in order to be able to help you.

Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. OS version? (Eg: Windows 98)
2. What firewalls you have?
3. How much ram?
4. Hard Disk space available?
5. Connection type? (Eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (home, school, work, etc.)?
8. What version of Limewire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
9. Who is your ISP provider? ( AOL/MSN/Comcast/Tiscal)
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
11. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
These details are vital if you want us to find out what your connection problem is.

* Did you configure your firewall so it allows LW full access (advisable not to have 2 active firewalls b/c they can interfere with each other. http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

12. Do This test, Is the result True/False?
http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...757#post103757 Is the result True/False

13. Do a speed test post the results here.

Can you give us a total description of your set up:
1. OS version? Windows XP, using Firefox
2. What firewalls you have? Ones that work.
3. How much ram? Enough.
4. Hard Disk space available? A lot
5. Connection type? Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
7. Where are you trying to connect from? Home
8. What version of Limewire? 4.10.12 and Java 1.4.2.
9. Who is your ISP provider? Adelphia
10. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No.

It's simple, I've had limewire for years and have had no problems. I have one of the oldest versions, something poped up and said 'you must download the latest limewire', and alas I did. Since then I can't connect.

Certaintly it can't be the fault of space available or ram.

There is a firewall somewhere blocking it. Do you use a router or do you live in apartments where they provide the Internet service. One thing you might try is turning Windows Firewall off then start LimeWire and see if it connects. But remember to turn it back on.
