Me too!!!

OMG me too!!! Lately I have been searching for music and get NOTHING!!!! I'm so frustrated and don't have a solution but just wanted to share the suckiness. :bangh:

jackiepantaloons April 11th, 2007 07:50 PM

I'm having this problem too, and it's really screwing me over. Gah! Frustrations!

soulangel723 April 11th, 2007 07:56 PM

I figured out the problem! Go to your connections tab. (if you don't see the tab click on View, then Show/Hide and then Connections) Any server that starts with the numbers 204 blah blah blah is BAD. Remove it and Limewire will automatically detect a new one. Keep doing this repeatedly until all these bad servers are gone. You should be able to search again.

Another way to check a bad server is by clicking on the server and then clicking browse host. If you get an error msg, remove the server.

bobwatford123 April 11th, 2007 07:59 PM

Worked like a charm thanks. I was getting nothing but that fixed it. Is it a bug or something? I just installed this new version the other day.

JayX April 11th, 2007 08:21 PM

OMG!!! Thank you so much!!! I've been struggling with this kind of problem for the longest time! I don't know if anyone else had this additional symptom, but, my Limewire kept telling me it was detecting a firewall when it wasn't searching. I tried every combination of deleteting and adding exceptions for the Windows firewall, and completely uninstalling my security software, but nothing helped! Nothing accept this! Thanks again!

heynorthwest April 11th, 2007 08:38 PM

hi thanks for the tip. I am doing that right now and well it is just going through alot of numbers. I am not all that computer savvy but should I be doing something else or should I just leave it alone?

heynorthwest April 11th, 2007 08:43 PM

hey does anyone know what to do about this message that pops up when I start to search for something. it says: only search results with a "lock" are offical limewire communications and then more info. does anyone know what this means? how can i get rid of it?

heynorthwest April 11th, 2007 08:45 PM

Oh My Goodness!!!!!! Thank You So Very Much I Have Finally Fixed It Now I Can Get My Music!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am new to LimeWire. Recently, I do not get any search results. Could someone tell what I should do. I tried following the above instructions to correct the problem, but I'm still not getting any search results. Thank you.

Try it again...http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showpo...58&postcount=6

If it still doesn't work try these fixes...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(5th one down)
http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index_jdk5.jsp

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...
http://www.limewire.com/english/cont...oadfree2.shtml

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder...

That message is just to warn you about a bogus update that shows up in most search results...It reads something like Important limewire update install now...So the developers thought that if they put the message about the padlock for people to see it would stop them from downloading this virus...

So it's not in relation to any other file just the LW update one....;)

Or you better check your anti spyware system installed on your pc, it might have blockes some new applications.

What's the rest of that IP address? I want to make be sure that the proper range is
blocked in The TechNutopia Fullsize Hostiles List for BearShare and LimeWire.

I have 2292 blocks on the 204 range already but those critters may have
tried to evade the blocks since I updated it last week.

wondering why April 14th, 2007 02:16 AM

Aaron these where the numbers that another poster had listed and blocked...
204.11.219.225
204.11.219.226
204.11.219.227
204.11.219.229
204.11.219.231

AaronWalkhouse April 14th, 2007 04:09 AM

Yep, that's a Peak Web Hosting rack. There are two ranges to block, just so
those hostile servers have to move to another hosting provider before trying
again. Naturally whenever I find a spammer or other hostile on a commercial
rack I block that whole rackspace provider permanently. I had their 204 range
blocked already but this info just led to a new 8.4.34-35 range when I
checked them again.

Good tip! Thanks! :D

These are the three formats most firewalls use. The first is PG, the second is
a typical address/mask typical of most firewalls [and BearShare or LimeWire
4.13] and the third is the straight CIDR style.

Peak Web Hosting:204.11.216.0-204.11.223.255
204.11.216.0/255.255.248.0
204.11.216.0/21

Peak Web Hosting:8.4.34.0-8.4.35.255
8.4.34.0/255.255.254.0
8.4.34.0/23

I think I'll run a worldwide search on "hosting". Might as well jump a step
ahead on these racks instead of waiting for new hostiles to pop up. I already
do "colocation" globally every month…

…Not bad. 170 hits on that "hosting" search. Time to pump out an update! ;]

Also this thread link doesn't work: http://www.gnutellaforums.com/showth...threadid=36420

If it still doesn't work try these fixes...
Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(5th one down)
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5

Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...
Lime Wire » Download LimeWire

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder...

"That message is just to warn you about a bogus update that shows up in most search results...It reads something like Important limewire update install now...So the developers thought that if they put the message about the padlock for people to see it would stop them from downloading this virus..." Nice trivia but how can it be removed? Those of us that knows better don't need to be constantly hassled by a glaring eyesore.

There is no server listed in there in the first place.
