Default Switched from comcast to insight and download speed diminished significantly

I swithed cable providers because I moved. I run windows xp2, a cable modem at 10mbps, 512 mb of ram, limewire pro.... I used to get downloads at 50 to 100 kb/s, now I can not get above 20!!!!! Also tried configuring ports but could not get a proxy to work(not knowledgable enough).

Sounds like Insight are throttling p2p.

Have you tried changing LW's listening port to something in the range of 49152 - 65535? Try 64049. Any ports forwarded through a router will also have to change No guarantees that this will help, but it's worth a try.

I will give it a shot. I have a phone call coming from a higher-up within the next couple of days, maybe I can complain my way into more bandwidth!
The only saving grace here is that comcast is taking over here by the end of the year, but that is still a long time!

You will find them listed here too ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

This thread was created by an Insight user: A Fix for those whose ISP's block Limewire pages 1 - 3 which have links to alternative instructions.

Be best to talk directly with that person. I am not savvy enough to understand proxies very well. There are other proxy option types though. And also one thing he did tell me is you need to be patient & persistent ... not all proxy numbers work. So you need to keep trying new numbers until you find one that works ... some work, some work slowly, some don't work at all.
