Hello, I need some help..

I must be stupid because I can't get limewire to completely connect. and I tried all of the firewall exceptions and I also contacted my ISP and they do not limit peer to peer. I'm growing frustrated, I've heard such great things about livewire and I can't get it to work. I have WidowsXP and I use WindowsLive One Care. Can anyone please help this computer stupid girl:bangh: ? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you :wai:

did you find a fix for your problem? i have never had a problem with limewire and then i moved and now it keeps telling me i have a firewall although i have accepted limewire in windows security. i cannot find where the firewall is and limewire will not connect.

wondering why September 22nd, 2007 04:51 PM

You all need to give a little more info...
Could you supply these details please...

Bizzie these are your specs you sent via pm...

I am using Microsoft XP
I am using Limewire Pro, and have been using it for over a year.
My computer is a one year old Toshiba Tecra.
I recently moved to Panama and I am sharing wireless with the people that live about me, they are using mp3rocket on their laptop with no problems.
I have 26 GB of space left on my computer.
Limewire opens but does not connect and I do have a brick wall in front of the icon.
I have made sure that there is an exception for Limewire in Microsoft security, and I am also using AVG but cannot locate a firewall.
I am not sure of any router information but can find out if I need to, the people above me are not in town at the moment.
I am using itunes with no problem, if that matters.
I am not sure how to locate any other firewalls that may possibly be on my computer.
I have made sure I have the latest Java.
Thank you for any help.

A couple of things you can try one at a time...
Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version....
Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11

If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;)
Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should

Try changing the listen port in limewire to 64049 and select apply...
To find this option go to Tools > Options > Advanced > Firewall...
You can also select the manual port forward option and enter 64049 and select apply...

Right-click the Limewire icon and go to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version.

Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!)

If that does not help, you may have to wait and see what the modem/router make and model number is, as most of them have Nat Firewalls within...;)
