Default Ignorant Users

I'm sorry, i've been reading this forum for too long - listening to too many seemingly 12 year olds complain and complain. I used to think that ignorance was bliss, but apparently that isn't the case with limewire - so if you're one of the ignorant, i suggest you read this.

1) Its FREE - this means, you do not have to PAY for it. This means the software is a PRIVILEDGE and not a RIGHT. I wonder at what point we started believing that everything was OWED to us for free? Thats not the way the world goes around. So stop posting as if limewire has some huge obligation to you, or some huge debt to repay. Live with the banner ads, they're a small price to pay. Live with the bugs and the changes, they're only the means to the end. And if you want to use some other file sharing program, go ahead, but please stop litering the forums with your empty threats - i'm so tired of hearing "Thats it! I'm done using limewire!" Like anyone really cares.

2) "Version 2.x sucks!" - I think you all first need a little bit of a wake up call on this one. First of all, EVERYONE needs to be using 2.0+ for the system to work. Second, modem user or NOT, the UltraPeer system increases not only the performance, but the scalability of the gnutella network (in case you're still lost, this is good for everyone). People continue to compare the new version to version 1.7 - You're comparing apples to oranges. First and foremost, 2.0+ is set to display ONLY (thats ONLY) 3 and 4 star results, so right away you're cutting down on the number of results that will be returned (thats right folks, try looking through the option settings sometimes). Secondly, unless we all participate in the UltraPeer architecture (and don't all flock back to 1.7 like ignorant lemmings) we all lose out on its benefits. I will concede that there is still some tweaking that needs to be done as far as architecting the linkage between all the UltraPeers, but we're getting there.

3) Its FREE (I thought that needed emphasis)

It's free? I wish I had known that before I sent in my $6. Token payment that this may be, it entitles me to complain when the product I bought does not perform as expected.

Default I agree

The previous gnutella versions tied up tons of bandwith throughout the whole community and internet by daisy-chaining every client together. Once everyone switches over, then it will be all good.
I do think however, that limewire should have arranged for their client to switch over to ultrapeer once the numbers of 2x clients were sufficient. I see most users getting fed up, and not switching to 2x which defeats the whole purpose. Gnutella is full of thankless leeches that are unable to see the whole picture and cry about paying a measly 6 bucks for a version. I do not see the 6 dollars as paying, but rather as a donation. If you do not like it, take your 6 bucks and go buy yourself a meal at mcdonalds.

You can consider it a donation, bot the folks at Limewire consider it a purchase:

Even if you do not pay for limewire, they profit from the banner advertising, so they are getting money for churning out sortware that does not work regardless of whether you pay for it or not. Advertising is a privilage not a right, if they want us to look at the adverts they should at least get the program to work.

That is why people complain, you fool.

Also, limewire should not claim to be as brilliant as it thinks it is, as it clearly is not.

That is also why people moan, you fool.

Ah, I see. Any one who disagrees with Chris is 12 years old.
Any one who posts that 2.0 returns a small fraction of the results of previous versions is ignorant.
Gee, how mature is tjhat?

Hey if u guys dont like 2.0 go shut your pie holes and cry somewhere else. Go build your own client and stop your bickering. How many of you can do that, huh? You get free music, free movies, and free software and alls you do is whine. Looks like you can't appreciate anything. Selfish you are.

Default Older peeps can be ignorant too

I'm only 16 but I can grasp the concept of Limewire now.
Yes, they do call it a purchase - that I can agree with but 6 bucks isn't all that bad is it?
I ask you, how much did you pay for your version of windows? Does your version of windows do EVERYTHING it says on the box, i'd think not...
Don't get me wrong here - I'm not one of those young kids that bashes windows but doesn't know any different. In all honesty - I like windows because it does a good job, but the point still remains that it doesn't do EVERYTHING it says on the box.
I used to use computers in the dark days of DOS... Screwing around with ugly and volatile autoexec.bat and config.sys files - the best part of all of that is that it has given me tolerance for computers.
I'm a programmer of Visual Basic and I know how hard it is to keep motivated when you are programming for people who will constantly complain about bug and problems. I try my level best to compile the programs without a hitch but sometimes I cannot avoid it. I don't mind people submitting bug reports but I do mind when people complain about something I am giving them for nothing with no profit or pay to me.
Limewire developers, you did wrong too - you added a new feature without telling people exactly what it does so in a way I guess you were kind of asking for it. You want to stop all of these ugly posts in these forums? Release some up-to-date documentation for 2.0 and encourage people to read it.
A final note to those of you that are still p_ssed off with Limewire:
Please, please, PLEASE - give Limewire 2.0 a go without you constantly looking for network statistics. I know some of you forked out $6 from your own pocket for this product, and I can understand your frustration BUT, by paying up - you have shown a loyalty to Limewire - please excercise this loyalty by adapting to the new release, and give the Limewire chaps a go. The money you paid was not to allow the developers to go on an overseas holiday I'd surmise - I think it was more of a thing to pay them for their efforts and to keep them motivated. People are only posting about how hard done-by they are on these forums because they CARE about where Limewire is going. I just beg you to be NICE about it... Give it time, I promise that you will see some changes and improvments to the core program. Until then, please stop discouraging the developers because they are here as a service to you, and I certainly wouldn't be in a hurry to fix a problem caused by people not being told about new features who just abuse you about it, would you?

Red face nerd alert

don't you sound like a little nerd, programming at 16! Have you seen the outside world? Ever kissed a girl (your mother does not count, nor does your sister before you ask)?
We complain because we can and will, we have more interesting things to do other than wanking over visual basic files and defraging harddrives like you do. Bet you spend all day trying to optimise your crappy 500MHz athlon, to get it to do something other than crash.
You sad fukk
