| If you have LW running on two accounts at the same time they have to use different ports. They both can't use the same one. LW will choose a different port automatically when you start the second one. Where you might run into problems is if you haven't made exceptions for the other port through your firewall and router. It might connect on one account and not the other. Directions to port forward your router: Port Forwarding for the Thomson/Alcatel SpeedTouch 530 Hope this helps .

| I had trouble for months (okay, I didn't make it a priority though) and tried everything I could find. I finally found this answer on a thread and it worked. It's quick and easy to try, so you might as well try this before you start uninstalling, deleting and all that other stuff. In windows (I have XP) Go to Start My Computer Go to c:\programs\program files\limewire then click (or double click) on the file that reads limewire.jar (and under it says executable jar file) Once I clicked on that, i went through the short setup language thing again and it worked fine!!!! Don't know what'll happen when i shut down again of course, so i'm cramming in some downloads now! I just made a shortcut of that file to my desktop. Oh ya, I heard it helps if you disable the "start limewire at startup option" from another thread. So I'm going to post this in a bunch of threads in case it helps anyone else. I got this advice from another thread so thank you to them!! |

| Thankyou so much guys! I tried the executable jar file thing and now it works fine. Thanks for the instuctions for the ports to. I'll keep them incase i get stuck again. One more thing this is my first time using the 4.12.11 version so i've never had the copyright message come up before...does this come up for every song? I'm assuming i just click yes? |

My firewall icon is showing the wall (that is, lw has detected a firewall) and yet I have no firewall turned on (windows firewall is disabled and PC-cillan firewall is disabled - infact PC cillan is turned off as well as the firewall feature disabled). I have tried everything including putting my PC in a DMZ (a setting in my d-link router) effectively connecting to the internet with zero firewall protection - and still I can't connect. I've just about given up. |

| Hi, hope somebody can help me. I'm having similar problems to the ones listed above. Have been having connection problems for 2 weeks now, always says connecting and never gets past 1 bar. I have reinstalled Limewire & updated Jave. Also have tried opening ports in the firewall and even tried setting up a proxy, which didn't work. Ran 2 spyware scans today and still no joy. Also have turned the Windows firewall off and the wall is still showing in Limewire. I would be very greatful for any help because this is driving me crazy. I can't think of anything else to try & have tried the tips on here so any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks 1. OS version? Windows XP 2. What firewalls you have? Only the Windows one 3. How much ram? 512MB 4. Hard Disk space available? about 10GB 5. Connection type? Braodband 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? D-link router 7. Where are you trying to connect from: House, other house mates can connect to Limewire. 8. What version of LimeWire: 4.12.11 & Java: 1.6.0_01 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? BT 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? says 'Your test worked!' 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. Experienced user, had problems for 2 weeks now with connecting 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes, even when firewall is off.
