Default Firewall connection problem?

I have went through all the steps to get Limewire working having searched through thes forums.
I have Norton firewall and have forwarded ports and done everything but the brick wall is still up over the globe. It's the first time I've set up Limewire on this computer.

Even when I disable Norton Limewire believes that there is still a firewall present! eh?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TM

The firewall is in your modem router and, at a guess, your port forward configuration has not worked (I am presuming that you have configured your Norton firewall correctly).

Now, I have a Norton firewall, which is configured correctly, and a modem router which is much more difficult to configure but not impossible once you have the right information.

Now TM you have to tell us the make and model of your modem router because without that no one can give you the correct port forwarding information you need to make LW work.

Tiscali will be your main concern; see it listed here & links that discuss it ISP's known to BLOCK or Filter p2p or specifically Limewire

As for firewalls, make sure XP firewall is disabled. Go to control panel & turn the XP firewall off. Then configure Norton; Configuring Norton Internet Security

I use Tiscali with my own computer and it has no problems. Perhaps my friend has a different tariff or something, though they defibitely use broadband.

The XP firewall is definitely disabled and I'm pretty sure I've sorted Norton out. Even when I disable NOrton the brick wall is still there. I don't get it!

WW

Although TM has not back to you, I'm guessing that he has a Speedtouch 330 USB modem because that is the only USB in the current speedtouch range.

If I am right then the modem, which is a very easy to use plug and play model, cannot be the problem.

All else being equal, then the problem has to be with his configuration of his firewalls (Norton and/or Windows) or Tiscali, his ISP.
