And I don't know any of my computer information, like what type of windows I have or blah blah blah, but it was working fine.
Although we did just get to newest version of Internet Explorer and I've heard it causing problems and randomly not allowing things.

It's not connecting people! It was, but now it isn't.

I'm not sure if it's not connecting though. It just when I click on it it doesn't open up at all.

1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98)
Um... the newest one. I know it was having prblems before...

2. What firewalls you have?
I honest don't know.

3. How much ram?
*twirls hair innocently*

4. Hard Disk space available?
Um... IDK.

5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
Um... with a cord/wire, you know to the wall. ?

6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
No idea.
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?
My house.

8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
LW 4.12.11

9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?
No idea

10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
I get ''Your test worked!''

11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
Um... actually, we just added another computer (that doesn't have windows) onto this computer's internet.

12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
Well, I've had LW for about three months with no problems before that. I reinstalled it but that didn't do anything.

13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
I don't know what the interface is. And even if I could I wouldn't be able to tell since Limewire is not opening.

What Worked for Me

I had trouble for months (okay, I didn't make it a priority though) and tried everything I could find. I finally found this answer on a thread and it worked. It's quick and easy to try, so you might as well try this before you start uninstalling, deleting and all that other stuff.

In windows (I have XP)

Go to Start My Computer
Go to c:\programs\program files\limewire
then click (or double click) on the file that reads
limewire.jar
and under it says executable jar file

Once I clicked on that, i went through the short setup language thing again and it worked fine!!!!

I read on another post that enabling limewire on startup caused problems so i deselected that.

Also, i had windows firewall on with limewire as an exception and earthlink (dial up) firewall off.

I just put a shortcut of the jar file on my desktop. I need to download some fleetwood mac before i start worrying about icons...

So I'm going to post this in a bunch of threads in case it helps anyone else.

I got this advice from another thread so thank you to them!!
