AT&T SBCGLOBAL Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? Test worked Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? no Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. New prob. experienced Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? cant open application to launch |
security problem Go to my computer and open and double click on hard drive(c) and open program files. and locate and open the limewire file. Now locate and open the "limewire executable jar file". limewire should now open. you should see a security alert "java tm platform SE binary has blocked certain...aspects of limewire"...just click on unblock. If your problem was the same as mine , your problems should now be over. rev. |
jar file the jar file is between the two green limewire icons, if you are using lw pro has something like 7007kb. unfortunately you might have to start up lw this way if you close lw out of your toolbar, each time. no biggie. :) |
Limewire Issue Sorta Resolved Quote:
Will I always need to click the file "limewire executable jar" first before Limewire will open? |
You can try these fixes... Try uninstalling all versions of Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.11 offline version.... Archive: Download Java 2 Platform Standard Edition (J2SE) 5.0 Update 11 Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer...To find the offline installer, use the link below > cancel the installer window when it pop's up and then select the offline installer link... Lime Wire » Download LimeWire If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder/s...This will reset your configurations back to default and get rid of any corruption that may of happened...;) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...ng-should.html LimeWire Pref Folder in Vista |

Hell yeah..... it worked!!! Thanks!! |
What Worked for Me You are an angel!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've had trouble for months and it was such a simple solution!!! Everyone should try this first! (the whole jar executable file thing) I reposted this solution on some other threads cause it's such an easy thing to check! (start with the cheapest/easiest solutions first right?) For us simpletons on windows xp: In windows (I have XP) Go to Start My Computer Click c: Click Program File Click the file that says limewire find a file name in that folder that says limewire.jar (and under it says executable jar file it has a picture of a java coffee cup, at least mine does, about 7007kb) click that once or twice (c:\program files\limewire) Once I clicked on that, i went through the short setup language thing again and it worked fine!!!! Don't know what'll happen when i shut down again of course, so i'm cramming in some downloads now! I just made a shortcut of that file to my desktop. Oh ya, I heard it helps if you disable the "start limewire at startup option" from another thread. Thank you so so much!!! |
I have the same problem, but none of these solutions are working for me...any other ideas please? |
Tried all of the above again and got the same response - nothing happens when I click the desktop icon, or the executable jar file. |
Have you tried these fixes yet... Try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should If it still won't open uninstall Java from the add/remove programs and use JRE 5.11 using the offline installer (4th one down).... Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 If you have tried those fixes with no success could you supply these details please....;) http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-help-you.html |
I tried all of the above one last time - this time it has worked - but that was yesterday. I'll see if it's still working today! Thanks for taking the time to help. JL. |
