i have the same problem with the firewall. i have no security so should not have a firewall problem and it wont turn off. any ideas how to fix this anybody?? |
I too have the same problem. I have no active firewalls (that I am aware of), yet the symbol still shows that there is a firewall up and I am unable to download anything. Any suggestions? |
It could be an ISP issue, I know Cox are know to shape p2p... Just check that the help the tech gave you are similar to this... Port Forwarding for the McAfee Security Center But you could try these fixes and see if they help... Try uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE offline version....(4th one down) Java SE Downloads Then uninstall Limewire using the uninstaller which is found in start > all programs > limewire...then re-install it using the offline installer... LimeWire: The Official Site for the Fastest File Sharing Program on the Planet If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should If it still won't open uninstall Java again and roll back to the JRE 5.11 using the offline installer (5th one down).... Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 |
Still no connection, and down to the last two recommendations If that does not help with your problem try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should I do not have a "limewire" folder under the Application Data subfolder...only a ".limewire" folder under c/documents and settings/my name. If it still won't open uninstall Java again and roll back to the JRE 5.11 using the offline installer (5th one down).... Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 I cannot find this JRE 5.11. The fifth one down is another program. Thanks again... almost there! |
Fella's & Ladies, What's up with our LW???? :yikes: :yikes: :yikes: I've used it for quite some time and no all of a sudden, NOTHING. I started another forum days ago and the responses didn't help at all. And that forum's responses and replies have come to a screeching halt. I too cannot connect. I've changed my NIS 2004 preferences AND turned the entire program off as well. I've removed JAVA and re-installed it. I've removed my LW 4.8 and uploaded to LW 4.12.11. I've read all the removes, turn off's, shut down, download, upload, un-install, re-install responses that LW peeps have recommended. And have done them all. It seems to me that A LOT of LW users are having this problem and are equally frustrated. Is there anyone that can help us? Thank you to that special person who will save us!!! |
I'm by far no expert, but it seems it's a Java bug and by suggesting to people to roll back to the JRE 5.11 seems to be the most logical answer at the moment...;) 01din... Delete the .Limewire folder and then re-start and delete the LimeWire folder...;) That Java link works fine ?? and the 5th one down is for the JRE (Java Runtime Enviroment) 5.11... |
No such luck. I've tried it before and did it again, just incase I've missed something. Any other suggestions...........PLEASE!!! |
Well we might just have to look deeper into your set up... Can you supply these details please... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-help-you.html |
