Unable to use limewire (no search results) Hello, I am having a problem with LW. I can get the site up, however when I type in what I am looking for I get nothing. Can anybody help me?? :( |
What do you mean by site up ??? Limewire is a p2p app and does not link you to a central server (ie site)... It means that you share files and connect to other computers just like your's.... If you are haveing problems with your set up, could you supply these details and also explain what is exactly happening.... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-help-you.html |
When I enter my search I get a message that it will take longer to get what I am looking for because LW is still enabling, nothing ever happens, my search never comes up |

New to LW and having same issue I tried to run a Search and nothing ever came up. The Search progress meter on the tab fills completely, but nothing happens. The Search never terminates ("Stop Search" button is enabled indefinitely) and no results appear. The title bar has been saying "Enabling Open Information Sharing" for about an hour now. (Edit: Make that 2 hours) Here's my HUHY info: 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) * Vista 2. What firewalls you have? * iolo Personal Firewall (System Mechanic) 3. How much ram? * 512 4. Hard Disk space available? * More than plenty 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) * DSL 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? * Unknown; service is free w/ apartment, just plug cable in the wall & go 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? * Apartment 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. * (LW) 4.12.11 / (Java) 1.6.0-rc 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? * Unknown; came w/ apartment 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? * It works 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. * No 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. * 1st try 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? http://www.gnutellaforums.com/attach...1&d=1158099342 * Yes. iolo Firewall is set to allow LW both incoming & outgoing. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? * No idea what that means, lol |
OK, I don't think I will be able to help to much with the firewall as I need the modem/router details.. But with what you are currently experiencing I'd say it's because of fake hosts... Go to your connections Tab in limewire, if it's not showing up go to Veiw > Show/Hide and make sure the connection tab has a tick next to it... Then click on the Hosts and remove them and let Limewire search for some more... If the same hosts keep appearing, disconnect limewire for 5 to 10 mins and then re-connect, until you get a complete new set...;) |
No dice Nothing ever comes up in th Connections tab.... |
Oh...Well that means you are not connecting to the network at all... It sounds like the apartment building your living in is blocking p2p... Or the ISP they use is... You could try this, I'm not sure it will help though... Try changing your port numbers... Go To Tools > Options > Advcanced > Firewall.. and select the manual port forward box and change it to 64049 then change the listen port box to 64049 and select apply... If that didn't help you can try.. Uninstalling your Java from the add/remove programs and then re-install the JRE 5.12 offline version....(4th one down) Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5 And last but not least.. Try deleting your preference folder... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should After deleting the preference folder and you still cannot connect, make sure you do the ports again...;) If none of the above work it's definatley the appartments set up... |
