Connection Problem

I too am experiencing connection problems that have started within the last couple of days. I have uninstalled and installed Limewire along with Java. Prior to this, I have had no connection problems and there have been no recent system changes to explain the loss of connection.

1. OS version?
Windows XP MEdia Center 2002 SP2
2. What firewalls you have?
Norton Antivirus 2006 with Limewire internet permissions completely enabled
3. How much ram?
2.0 GB Ram
4. Hard Disk space available?
101 GB free space
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.)
Cable
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers?
Motorola SB5100
Linksys BEFW1154
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)?
Home connection.
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.
I had LimewireV4.12.something...when the problem occurred. In the troubleshooting process I have upgraded it to V4.13.4. Java RE 6U1
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)?
RoadRunner
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there?
Yes..the test worked.
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
No.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.
New problem with long time experienced user.
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface?
Yes.

Limewire will sit at one green as if attempting to connect, but the connection never completes and I receive a message stating that there is no active internet connection. All other software is connecting to the internet and running smoothly.

Thank you for the repsonse. I am using the same ISP as before when LW would connect. I have even so much as gone into the LW settings for Firewall Configuration and changed the port to 60494 as instructed in a another forum post for the same problem and still nothing. This is disappointing...I hope this issue gets resolved as I do miss my LW. :(

Thanks, I got things working. I did not have to do anything with my router. I turned off my antivirus (Norton), uninstalled the current version of LW, restarted, I deleted the preferences file, then reinstalled the new version (4.12.11), restarted the computer. Things finally started working.

Thanks all for help!

The key was deleting the preference file before installing!
