Firewall Issues I have been trying to connect to LW for the past few weeks. It says I am behind a firewall;however, i have no idea what firewall i'm behind. I don't have norton or zone alarm, or mcafee, or anything liek that installed and my windows firewall isn't on b/c it says i already have one. If anyone could please help me figure out how i find out which firewall i'm behind that would be great. |
Could you supply these details please.... http://www.gnutellaforums.com/connec...-help-you.html |

Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? Hello people!!!! I got the same problem as alot of people are having! My "BLUE WORLD"is behind an unknown firewall.......Please break my bricks...Oh yeah, the test worked!!!!! |
The model number is BEFSR41, does that sound right? |
Yep that's right...Here are your instructions to Port Forward...;) This will open a port in your router to let Limewire through... Port Forwarding for the Linksys BEFSR41 golden_chris I need more info !!! |
didn't work, tried everything and it still says i'm behind a firewall and my connection only goes to the first bar....I NEED HELP! |
Did you set up the static IP part correctly ?? Did you place the port number you opened into the manual port forward box and the listening port box in limewire ( they both have to be the same number you chose in the port forward instructions) ?? What security do you have on your computer ?? |
i set up the static Ip address as port forward told me to, and my listen and manuel ports are the same, I don't know what my firewall is, its not windows firewall, but my anti-virus is Ad-aware SE personal, and avast! Antivirus |
I'm at a loss as to what it would be then...Try having a look in your program files and see if you can find the firewall you are running... |
Unknown Firewalls Dear Tw1string Although I have no specific answer to your problem I do have a few suggestions: 1) Port Forwarding, I suggest that you get in touch with your modem/router's support dept. and put your question about port forwarding to them. They are most likely to give you the latest and most up to date info on port forwarding your product. 2) Contact your ISP and find out if the currently block or partially block P2P traffic, simply because more and more ISP are doing so without any notice to their customers. 3) LAN stands for Local Area Network and, as such, I would not expect users to have LANs in their homes only in their place of work. However, in multi-computer owning homes wireless LANs are the modern way to go. Do you have a wired or wireless LAN in your home? The reason I ask is because wireless home LANs use WEP or WPA encryption when communicating with the router, this may be the problem you are having. UK Bob |
