How to use Manual Port faward

Universal Plug and Play may not be working properly Due to this update. "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)"
If this update is installed on your computer & UPnP is in use in Limewire
Try switching to Manual Port faward, using port numbers between 45000 To 65000
Both Manual Port faward No, & Listerning port should be set at the same number
GO to Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port faward.
If you are using a router to connect, that may also need configuring
Find your router listed here, Use this blue link. & dont forget to create a static IP first.

hey man i got the same problem...it seems common but i will tell you some things i have tried......
DELETE YOUR PREFERENCE FOLDER
REINSTALL JAVA AND LW
CHANGE PORTS
CREATE A NEW WIN XP ACCOUNT
DELETE AND REINSTALL FIREWALLS
i have tried everything man i dont know whats up with it... but if i get mine to work i will let you know what i did cuz we got the same problem

Adding to this list I have

reinstalled modem
complete virus scan
disk fragmented


Going bonkers

for what ever reason i have the same issue... 1 bar for connection and at the top of of limewire (application)it states ( diconnected / no files) ..than i just got an error message stating limewire has encountered an internal error .....are they fixing this issue ..i have limewire pro ... i have a g4 macintosh and i am in os 9.2.2 i believie im using limewire 4.0 ...can someone tell me something?

GOT IT WORKING!!!!!!!

I had to disable completly the firewall, and reload actually I got a new one - virus program. I used Microsoft Windows Line OneCare free 90 day trial, and allowed the firewall for that program and disabled the one that came with the pc.


Thank god, I was getting rather frustrated.

...im having big trouble trying to get rid of the fire wall that has randomly just turned up recently on my limewire.....i only hav the basic one..but wen i first got it..it went sweet as...now it wont connect because of this fire wall..n e help greatly appreciated!!!

Worth a try, go to the microsoft site, look in their internet security site and download the program. When you install it, it acts as the default, and overrides your problem one.
