Someone Help Me Please, can't connect

New to LW. Everything seems to be in proper order except for one problem. It is not allowing me to connect, I do have a firewall but I have done all the port work but still no luck. Have read and tried several things but nothing has worked so far. Getting very aggitated:yikes:. Can anyone help quick?!

System details - help us to help you Please.

Cut n paste these Questions, put your answers in bold text Thank You.

Recently there's been a problem with people not providing enough details about their setup - despite being asked again & again.
So let's make it easy for everyone...the details that we need if we're going to be able to help with complex problems are:

1. what OS version? (eg: Windows 98, XP,OSX, Vista)
2. What firewalls you have ?
3. How much ram ?
4. Hard Disk space available ?
5. Connection type (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) ?
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers ?
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.) ?
8. What version,LimeWire & Java,Go to L/W's Help/About L/W, THIS show both LW & Java version.?
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider) ?
10. Do this test click here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ should say 'Your test worked!. What happens ?
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.
12. Is this your 1st try at LW, or is this a new problem with an experienced user.?
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface ?
14. Have you given full permisions for LimeWire to pass through your Firewall ?
15. XP users, Please state XP firewall on or off.?

These are all contained within the sticky Connection problems? Check here first!
but possibly some people are getting a bit confused or lost when we direct them to this sticky & ask them to provide their details.

This information can be vital
For instance, some ISPs are known for blocking p2p/throttling bandwidth,
some connection devices are known for being unreliable in certain situations.

So please, help us to help you & provide as much info as you can.
If you're new to LW or new to computers & aren't sure how to answer some questions,
or don't know what an ISP or router is - just say so. Nobody's going to yell at you:wink:
Even if you can't answer all the questions in one go...don't worry. Do the best you can & we'll take it from there.

OK, I have had MP3Rocket for a very long time and it has been great. However, I tried to use it yesterday and today and it gives me an error
"not connecting" or something a gnutella. I don't have limewire, it screwed up my machine w/tons of viruses. What is going on. I went online and saw where many many people are out w/MP3Rocket. What's the deal and help!!! I paid so why can't I use it?

mickjapa108 May 18th, 2007 01:08 AM

Hi Slick.
Sorry for the late reply
Try this first, the java JRE6.u1 is not working for some so Get jre-1.5.11
Now! Go to,
START/Set Program Access/Change or Remove Programs,
now completely remove all versions of java.
Re BOOT Your computer NOW.

Now! Use this Link to get (jre-1.5.11) Use the off line installer, NOT the (recommended) one,
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
When Download is completed.
Disconnect from internet, close ALL apps n reinstall java.

NEXT, Turn XP Firewall off, 2 Firewalls running at the same time Conflict.

If that don't fix it,
Try to delete Firewall permissions in Norton, Limewire will re apply.
Let us know how you get on.
Your servant.
Peace.

Still Not Working

Hey MickJapa108 I did all the things listed. Installed the new java software and nothing has changed. I still get the same message that it is trying to connect and that there is a firewall blocking the connection. Thatnks for the heads up in your other message but it may not matter if I never get it running. What should I try now??? -Slick

Connected!!!

Hey MickJappa108 I was looking at your other posts and tried some things. Basically deleting "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)" and/or using man. port forward. Thanks for all your help - Casey

mickjapa108 May 19th, 2007 02:17 AM

Casey Hi
Zhone M# 6218-I2-200-0GW, Dose not exist Have you made a type error ?
Modem & router brand name & model numbers
What do you Have modem, modem/router, wireless modem/router, modem + router We need the numbers please.

Deleting Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261) Is ONLY meant as a test
to see if Those using UPnP are affected.
If people using UPnP are back up & running after delete, I would recommend
To Manual Port Forward & reinstall the windows update, we are working on this problem, Deleting Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261) Is NOT a
Cure, its a tool to determine if UPnP is being affected by that update on the computer I'M dealing with in a particular post at that time using UPnP.

Please Don't delete this update unless a Valued Member instructs you to or you
could cause more problems than are cured.
Peace.
