"Limewire is currently connecting"

Hi all. I've had a good read of suggestions across the threads and I've pasted the LW path into Avast(antivirus sofware) to make it an exception. When I search I keep getting the message Limewire is currently connecting to the network. Your search may not return many results until you are fully connected to the network. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having the same problem. I just downloaded limewire yesterday and it says the same thing when I try to find a song. The red and green bars on the bottom show no activity. I've uninstalled and reinstalled twice, checked my firewalls and did everything is said to do in the forums when you are having connection problems. And still nothing. I clicked on the blue link that was posted in the reply above and it says page load error: The server at www3.limewire.com is taking too long to respond. I would love to get some more advice on getting this fixed. Thanks!

You are being blocked from the default LW port for connecting, either due to your internet provider else your router/modem or software firewall. As requested above, please provide those details otherwise we cannot help any further.
