help me please (limewire shuts down) 1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) windows xp sp2 2. What firewalls you have? windows firewall 3. How much ram? 512 4. Hard Disk space available? 20g 5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) cable 6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? RCA DCM425 7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? house 8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version.LW 4.12.11 java 1.5.0_11 9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? time warner cable 10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? its a blank page at the top left corner it says your test worked 11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up. no 12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user. new problem 13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? no when i go to open LW it opens with that loading screen and starts running through the loading stuff then closes. i have reinstalled both java and LW. someone help |
Try deleting your preference folder and see if that helps.... Fixes for Limewire when LW isn't operating as it should |

Ok try this... Right-click the Limewire icon and go to properties and change compatability setting to Windows 2000. (but only if you're using Windows 2000 or later.) Somebody reported changing to Windows NT compatibility fixed their problem despite not using that operating system version. Right-click on the Limewire icon on the desktop and click on Run as. Then it should come up showing the current user and then switch it over to Administrator. (but 'only' if you're the admin of your comp.!) |
