Is this a new problem (been using LW successfully in the past) or have you just installed LW for the first time??? What version of LW are you using? What version of Java? What OS?

I have used it before on my computer this is the first time it has happened, I am using Limewire 4.12.11. I am running Java SE Runtime enviroment 6 upoate 1 and my os is Windows XP.

Reinstall this version of Java & see if that helps. Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current version of Java before you install this one!
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5

Some people have had connection issues due to a recent Windows update. Check out this thread & see what Mickjapa108 says about it. He tells you how to check if you have this uupdate.
LimeWire will not connect for me anymore
If you have this update & have your router set to use UPnP then let us know!

Try deleting LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 below (also point 2 if you'ver used much older versions of LW in the past...there could be a folder in both locations).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things.

Thanks Deleting the files on the third step did the trick thank you for all the help.

So after deleting the preferences folder, you had no problems even though you're still using Java 1.6.0_01??

Or did you also revert back to the eariler Java (1.5.0_11)?

Just trying to figure out what works for people, as there are so many probs at the moment;)

& Do you have the update "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)"
Installed in Add n remove programs.
Your feed back will help us get on top of this problem Thank You Rosco.

I went back to the old java and deleted both the .limewire pref folder from a older version I had and the newer versions pref folder limewire i think it was called. I had both of them on my hard drive.

I have a router but I do not have a firewall on it, I may have one with my service provider but it has never effect me before with L/W and No I do not have the Security update on my computer.
