Connection Problems Problems getting the LimeWire or WireShare program connecting to the Gnutella network. (not about connecting to files, that is a Download/Upload Problems section issue.) Please supply system details as described in the forum rules.

Default Cant connect to limewire

I cannot connect to limewire
my specs are=
1. OS version? (eg: Windows 98) windows xp sp2
2. What firewalls you have? i have a router wich has a router installed
3. How much ram?480mb
4. Hard Disk space available? over 30gb
5. Connection type? (eg: dialup, broadband, cable, etc.) broadband
6. Modem & router brand name & model numbers? Netgear DG834 v3
7. Where are you trying to connect from (house, appartment complex, school, student accomodation, work, etc.)? House
8. What version of LimeWire (LW) & Java do you have? (Go to LW's menu Help>About LW...) Will show both LW & Java version. limewire pro 4.10.0
9. Who is your ISP provider (Internet Service Provider)? optus
10. Do this simple test for us. Using your browser go here: http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ The page should say 'Your test worked!'. What happens when you go there? it sais the test worked
11. Are you sharing the connection with other computers or p2p sharing programs? If yes, please give details of set up.i am sharing the conection with 2-3 other computers, we are all conected to the router with a wired conection.
12. Is this a your 1st try at LW or is this a new problem with an experienced user.this is new problem, it was working fine, then i realoded my computer, and it could not connect. nothing else had changed
13. Do you see a brick wall in front of the blue world icon at the bottom of LW's interface? yes

14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? it is UPnP enabled

Any help would be greatly apreciated

Spit, what version of Java are you using? In LW help > about LW will show you the version. If you're using 1.6.0_01 then try reinstalling this older version.
Java SE Downloads - Previous Release - JDK 5
Use the JRE offline installer & remove your current version of Java before you install this version.

Some people have had connection issues due to a recent Windows update. Check out this thread & see what Mickjapa108 says about it. He tells you how to check if you have this uupdate.
LimeWire will not connect for me anymore

If you have this update (or even if you don't!) then you could try port forwarding. Have a look on this site, your version of router's not listed but some of the other Netgear DG834 instructions might suit your router

If that doesn't help then delete LW's preferences folder when LW's properly closed. See point 3 below (also point 2 if you'ver used much older versions of LW in the past...there could be a folder in both locations).
Fixes for LimeWire
This will kill all of your settings within options, you'll have to go back through afterwards & reset things.

I am using 1.6.0_01 i will try and fix it using the links you surplied
