Have you allowed java access to the internet? What version of java are you using? Make sure you don't have more than one version installed.

Try deleting LW's preference folder(point #3 in this thread): http://www.gnutellaforums.com/window...ng-should.html. You'll have to redo you settings in LW, so make a note of them.

Open limewire and on the tool bar at the top click, Help > About LimeWire, And a window will open that'll show what version of limewire and java your using.

Turn the xp firewall off and make sure you have allowed LW access to the internet through your norton firewall.

To turn off the windows xp firewall, from you desktop go to Start>Control Panel>Security Center>Windows firewall> tick the off button then click ok. It will warn you not to turn it off but if you have norton running then it's ok.

Instructions to configure Norton here: Configuring firewall rules for Web-enabled programs

To check for any other java versions, from you desktop go to Start>Control Panel>Add or Remove Programs, and see if more than one is listed.

OK I checked the add remove programs and it showed no Java listing
the Java listed on LW is 1.5_05
XP Firewall is off
I think the problem is Norton, today when i opened
LW Norton Showed a worm block and when I asked for details it showed the cause as Limewire so
HOW DO FIX THAT?

Marisa Brooke May 24th, 2007 07:34 AM

found the problem now How to fix it

The problem is the Norton Worm Protction, when its off LW works fine
I cant find LW on the list of exclusions and cant figure out how to put it there so HOW DO I MAKE it accept it?:aweof:

My Nortons is Nortons Antivirus 2006

I'm not sure if you can have Norton running. It's not a firewall issue, so you can't just include Limewire on the list of exceptions. Can you turn off the 'worm' protection and still have some antivirus protection? That may be what you have to do. If you can't figure out how to make Norton compatible with LW, you could download AVG antivirus (it's free). It works well with LW and provides good protection.

Good Luck

Marisa

In the recent past we have come across other forum members that have had problems with Norton Antivirus worm protection and Limewire, it seems the two are just not compatible.

As you have discovered, the only way to use NAV and LW together is to temporarily turn off the worm protection, when you have finished using LW you can turn the worm protection back on.

Strange

Well I turned the worm protection off and then back on and now its loading even with the worm protction on, really strange as the LW has been working for me all along with the worm protection and then all of a sudden it wouldnt
Thank you 6 PAC you were awesome and everyone else as well Thanks for being here:aweof::aweof::aweof::aweof::aweof::aweof::awe of::aweof:
