Can't Connect - no signs it's even attempting to do so I can't connect to LW. Was using it the other day but had to restore my computer to factory settings after having issues with it. I subsequently reinstalled LW and now can't connect. It continually says "Starting Connection" in the bottom lower bar. The Connections tab is blank - there are no hosts or any activity indicating that attempts to connect are being made. Any help would be appreciated. 1. Windows XP Home 2. McAfee firewall, windows firewall is disabled 3. 1 gb ram 4. 45 gb disk space available 5. Road runner cable ISP 6. d link wireless router 7. Connecting from home. 8. LW version 4.9.23 Pro; Java 1.4.2_05 9. Road runner ISP 10. Wen to http://www3.limewire.com:6346/ and the page said 'Your test worked!'. 11. Not sharing the connection with any other computers. 12. Was using LW (same version) but had to restore my computer to factory settings after having issues with it and subsequently reinstalled LW. 13. A firewall has been detected (blue world behind brick wall) I went to the sticky Connection problems? Check here first! and tried configuring the firewall per the instructions but when I click on the instructions for Mcafee at the bottom of the page, it takes me to a blank page. 14. For those using a modem/router, how is your modem/router set up...are you port forwarding or is UPnP enabled? NOT SURE |
You will need to search your model of McAffee firewall here http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/ Quote:
As far as the brickwall/blue world icon goes, you can re-enable viewing of it by going to LW's menu bar, Tools>Options>Status Bar>Firewall Indicator What you could do temporarily is disable your McAffee firewall & use XP firewall instead but make sure LW is configured within it so it has full access. |

I have the D Link DI-634M. I don't know if it has UPnP but it is already enabled in LW. I turned the firewall indicator back on in LW then disabled the McAfee firewall and verified the Windows firewall was off. Lw still detects a firewall. I'm not sure how how or why it's doing this. I also tried manually changing the port to 64049 with no success. Any other suggestions? |
i have trouble connecting to the network to download songs. I turned my Norton Security settings down, and it still detects the firewall even when i turned it off! and i still can't cennect to the network. |
have u tried using a proxy in limewire? tools/options/advanced/proxy It works for me. |
Same Problem with Mac Os 9 It's funny, I ran last week into the same problem and tried now (lot's of work) to figure out what happened. I use OS9 with an old ibook and used Limewire without too many problems if you ignore that sometimes old downloads would not be continued or the files to share could not be found. Same thing happened and I did the same as usual: tell Limewire, where to find the files. But this time the problem turned out to be the same as was described above. And - I don't want to cause any difficulties but I simply don't know what is a …was it a D-Link??? ;-) |
