Hi Coleman509.

How to use Manual Port forward

Universal Plug and Play may not be working properly Due to this update. "Security Update for Windows XP (KB931261)"
Removing this update is not Recommended & could make your computer vulnerable to attack.
For more info on this update, click on this blue link.
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS07-019: Vulnerability in Universal Plug and Play Could Allow Remote Code Execution (931261)

If this update is installed on your computer & UPnP is in use by Limewire,
Try switching to Manual Port forward using port numbers between 45000 To 65000
Both Manual Port forward No, & listening port should be set at the same number
In LimeWire, GO to Tools/Options/Advanced/Firewall Config & use Manual Port forward.

If you are using a router to connect, that will also need configuring.
Find your router listed here, Use this blue link. & dont forget to create a static IP first, & click apply after changing each setting.

Peace.

Thanks for the help mickjapa, the only windows update I've done since LW last worked is the microsoft GDI + DETECTION TOOL (KB873374) for windows ME. I've switched to manual port & tried various port #'s like u suggested, still no luck. I'm not using a router, but I do use an ethernet(?) adapter model DFE-530TX+ EXPRESS 10/100Mps PCI ADAPTER D-LINK ver. 1.02. I had to install this when I moved up here in the woods because DSL is the best we can do up here. That was over 2 yrs. ago. every thing was fine until about a week ago. I fooled around uninstalling / installing LW & JAVA for several hours monday & the brick wall vanished briefly but I still couldn't get connected, now it's back. Well, computers will teach you patience. ( i guess!). well thanks again.

I just went to the web site for BEC technologies, & what i've always called a modem is a modem/router.here's a little info about it.
High performance ADSL2+ Modem/Router

High Speed Internet Access with ADSL2+, backward compatible to ADSL
Easy Network Management
Support Virtual Private Network (VPN) Pass-through
Express Internet Access
With BEC 5200S is an easy-to-use and economical pack of ADSL2+ Modem/Router perfectly design for home users to enjoy the high speed Internet. The router lets you share high-speed ADSL Internet connection. The web-based Graphic User Interface allows you to install and manage your network easily.
don't know if this has anything to do with the problem. this stuff's pretty much over my head.

Hi coleman509.

I replied yesterday to this post, For some reason It disappeared.
I believe the problem is your modem/router, it just needs configuring correctly
If you have a setup CD, info for setup should be on it.
try to browse CD & look for read me or PDF file.

That link you gave me is just Gobbledygook code, I cant read it, sorry.
let us know how you get on.
Peace.
