Connection Problems with User Accounts

I have been trying for a while to sort out a connection problem that seems to only affect one user account. I have recently updated to the latest Limewire and on my user profile I can easily connect to Limewire. If my son logs on to his profile he cannot connect despite having the same administrator rights as me. Also Norton Internet Security is configured in both profiles to 'Permit All' Limewire traffic. I cannot understand why it works in one profile yet not the identical other. I have reinstalled in both profiles, reconfigured NIS in both profiles but still it works in my profile but in my sons identical profile. My only thought is to create a new user profile, and if this works for my son then transfer his data across and delete his original profile. Can anyone help or have the same problem?

Check what ports LW's set to in your son's account....Open LW and go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Firewall Config, and see what the listen on port is. You'll need to allow exceptions for that port through your firewall.

When you have LW running on more than one account, you have to use different ports for each one. Or set his port to the same as yours but you can't have both running at the same time. If you do, the one that's opened second will pick a different port and will not be able to connect.

My best guess, hope it helps ;).

XP user accounts cannot connect

I purchased Limewire Pro 4.13.6 and installed it successfully with the latest Java. The XP administrator account works fine but the other user is not able to connect and connection bars remain red. We have placed a Limewire shortcut on the user desktop, per instructions. Making the other user an administrator made no difference. I have a Dell Dimension with 512MB RAM and 2.6GB free space on the hard drive. I have a Linksys wireless router for other computers in the house but this one is hard wired to the internet via a Time Warner Cable modem. I use Zone Alarm firewall with the proper program exceptions made for Limewire. Ditto on the Internet Worm Protection settings for Norton Anti-Virus. I would really appreciate any assistance in enabling the other XP user account to connect properly to Limewire. Emails to online support have not produced a helpful response, beyond placing the desktop shortcut - which we had already done. The program launches, but does not connect for the XP user - even though the administrator is able to use it with no problem. HELP!
